CAMBRIDGE SPINNERS WIN TITLE!

The Spinners won the 2019 league championship with a 12-1 win over the Boston Sox Wednesday night to win the series three games to two. Chris Muse-Fisher pitched a complete game, giving up one run on four hits while striking out eight.

Ryan Feeney and Colin Sullivan led the offense with three hits each. Feeney drove in four runs and Sullivan scored three times.

Brahiam Ortega walked and scored the lone Sox run in the third on a Rommel Peguero single.

Congratulations to the Cambridge Spinners on their third league championship and to the Boston Sox on a great season.

The Spinners take game two of the finals with a 12-5 win in Cambridge Friday night. Alex Benson led the offense with three hits and Mark Killoren's two-run home run in the fourth inning gave Cambridge a commanding lead.

Chris Muse-Fisher pitched five shutout innings, giving up just one hit while striking out seven.

The Sox rallied for five runs in the bottom of the seventh. Brendan Pounds and Omar Ortiz drove in two runs apiece.

For the fifth consecutive year, the Spinners have reached the league finals. They beat the A's 7-2 and swept the series three games to none. Pat Donahoe came on in relief for a struggling Nick Bonofiglio and held Waltham to just two hits over 3.2 innings.

Down 1-0 in the first, Cambridge rallied for three runs. Nick Sieber and Colin Sullivan hit back-to-back doubles and drove in runs. Sullivan finished the night with three RBIs. Mike Navarro drove in a run later in the inning.

The Spinners defense got out of a jam in the third inning, keeping the A's off the board with runners on second and third and a bases loaded jam in the fourth.

Brett O'Keefe walked and scored in the first and Nick Barton reached on an error in the second and scored on a Rob Muollo double.

The Spinners now await the winner of the Sox-Grays series for the finals.

The Spinners take a 2-0 lead in their semifinal series with a 6-3 win. Down 3-2 in the fourth, Ricky Salvia and Matt Gioia reached base and Mark Killoren's two-run single gave Cambridge the lead. Alex Benson drove in Sullivan on a sac fly later in the inning. Mike Tufo singled and scored on a Colin Sullivan RBI single.

Chris Muse-Fisher earned the win, pitching isx innings and striking out six. Ryan Feeney came on in relief in the seventh for the save.

All three Waltham runs came in the first, with consecutive hits and runs scored from Jason Tessari, Nick Tapper and Tom McIntyre. Brett O'Keefe pitched a complete game with seven strikeouts.

In a see-saw battle, the Cambridge Spinners took game one of the semi-final series 9-4. Tied 3-3 in the sixth, Mike Navarro recorded his third hit of the game and later scored on a Matt Gioia single. It would be the first of five for the Spinners.

Nick Bonofiglio earned the win in relief, replacing starter Luc Kocher in the fifth. He recorded two strikeouts in his appearance.

Alen Benson and Colin Sullivan had three hits each and Mike Knell drove in three runs.

Nick Tapper scored two runs for the Athletics while Tom McIntyre led the offense with two hits.

The Spinners clinched home field advantage throughout the post-season with a 6-3 win over the Cardinals. Down 3-0 early, Cambridge rallied with six unanswered runs, culminating with Nick Sieber's three run homer in the fourth and four RBIs.

Lynnfield's Adam Johnson doubled off Cambridge pitcher Luc Kocher in the first, driving in a run. Mike Perillo drove in two runs later in the inning.

Cambridge responded with a run, with a Colin Sullivan RBI single. Mike Tufo tripled and scored on a fielder's choice in the second. Alex Benson singled and later scored the Spinners last run in the sixth.

Nick Bonofiglio earned the win in relief, pitching three innings with four strikeouts. Pat Clapp came on in relief for the save.

Josh Desai pitched a complete game for the Cardinals with seven strikeouts.

The long trip to Middleboro proved worthwhile for the Spinners as Cambridge beat the Red Sox 6-2 and clinched a playoff spot. Nick Sieber had three hits and scored twice, while Alex Benson drove in two runs.

The Spinners won their seventh straight game with a 2-1 walk-off win in Malden. Pete Allain led off the inning with a double and scored on a Nick Bonofiglio sacrifice fly.

Pat Clapp got the win, pitching the seventh inning and recorded two strikeouts. Luc KOcher started and went 4.1 innings with three strikeouts. Pat Donahoe came on in relief in the fifth and kept the Red Sox off the board.

Cambridge scored first in the sixth and scored on a Mike Knell double. Middleboro bounced back in the seventh when pinch runner Tyler Dean scored on a Tyler Ferdinand double.

The Spinners are back in action Saturday night when they face the South Shore Grays.

Spinners no-hit As!

The pitching trio of Nick Bonofiglio, Pat Donahoe and Chris Muse-Fisher kept the A's hitless as Cambridge won their sixth straight 6-2. Bonofiglio struck out six in his third win of the season.

Nick Sieber had two hits and scored twice, while Ricky Salvia Alex Benson scored two runs each.

Waltham scored in the third when Paul Mahoney walked and scored on an error. Dave Pirman walked and later scored on an Alan Donaruma walk.

Longtime Spinners bench coach Nick Scofield made his MABL debut. The 12-year league veteran grounded to third in his lone at-bat in the seventh.

Waltham made a rally in the seventh, taking advantage of Cambridge errors. They loaded the bases with no outs and James Wilson drove in a run to cut the lead 3-2. The Spinners then turned a double play and closer Pat Clapp recorded a strikeout to end the game.
