A's ADVANCE TO FINALS

The A's advanced to the finals behind a Kyle Breidenstine 1-hitter. He struck out 7 in the complete game win.

The A's scored in the 1st, leading off with back-to-back-to-back singles from Donaruma, M. Asdornvuttikrai, and McIntyre. The Giants' Walsh induced Barton into a double play, but one run was put on the board for the A's.

In the 3rd, Mahoney was hit by a pitch. He stole 2nd and advanced to 3rd on an Asdornvuttikrai single. McIntyre then hit a sacrifice fly to drive in Mahoney and the second run for the A's.

That was all Breidenstine needed, as he faced just one over the minimum. Asdornvuttikrai finished 3-3 with a double.

The A's await the winner of the Spinners-White Sox series.

A's TOP GIANTS IN PITCHER'S DUEL

Huber and Plumitallo dueled all morning, but Huber and the A's came out on top.

The A's scored in the 1st. Krall laced a single to the right side to bring home M. Asdornvuttikrai, but Smith gunned down McIntyre at the plate to limit the damage to just 1 run.

The A's stretched the lead to 2-0 in the 4th. Tessari led off with a single. On Vadala's single Tessari legged it from 1st to 3rd, and errant throw went out of play, allowing Tessari to score the 2nd A's run.

The Giants loaded the bases with no outs in the 5th. Clarke walked to cut the lead to 1. But Huber induced 2 infield popouts to get out of the jam.

For the A's, Huber got the complete game win, giving up just 1 run on 3 hits while striking out 5. Tessari finished 2-3 with a steal.

On the Giants side, Plumitallo gave up just 1 earned run while tossing all 6 innings for the Giants. Clarke went 1-3 with an RBI walk.

A's TAKE GAME 1 SLUGFEST

The A's scored in the 1st on a Barton base knock. They got 4 in the 3rd on back-to-back doubles from Balise and M. O'Keefe.

The Giants got 3 in the 3rd, with French, Nowlin, and Savas connecting with big hits.

The A's scored again in the 5th on another Balise double. But the Giants got 2 in their half with Savas driving a 2-RBI single.

In the 6th, M. Asdornvuttikrai and McIntyre hit back-to-back doubles for a run. McIntyre later scored on Barton sacrifice fly.

In the bottom of the 7th, French and Montone had RBI hits. The Giants then loaded the bases with one out. Stiffler hit a would-be sacrifice fly, but the A's Barton cut down Clarke at the plate to conclude a wild Game 1.

B. O'Keefe got the win; Huber took the save. The A's hit 7 doubles; Balise had 3 and M. O'Keefe had 2. For the Giants, Montone, Savas, and Nowlin had multi-hit games, and French finsihed 2-3 with 2 doubles.

The Spinners got the bats out early and took care of the Giants 14-1 in a shortened game and their third win by mercy rule this season. Seven Spinners drove in runs and were led by a Greg Megerdichian grand slam home run in the third inning. Mike Tufo, Peter Allain and Mark Killoren drove in two runs apiece and eight different Spinners crossed the plate.

On the mound, Luc Kocher became the MABL's single season wins leader by picking up his tenth win of the season. He pitched four innings, giving up one run on three hits while striking out six. Dan Blum came on in relief with two strikeouts.

The Spinners have scored a combine 35 runs in their last 2 meetings.

Despite only having 8 players the Giants were able to fend off the Os thanks to some well-timed offense and a valiant pitching effort from Brett Nowlin.

The Giants look to close out the regular season with a win against the first place Spinners in Cambridge on Tuesday.

Joff Smith picks up his first win of the year keeping the hot Dodgers bats off balance through 6 innings striking out 7.

Smith kept the Giants in the game until there offense finally woke up in the 5th on a Jon Savas 2-run home run. The Giants would tack on 4 more in the 6th and 2 in the 7th to cruise to an 11-4 victory.

The Giants are back in action tomorrow night against the White Sox in Charlestown.

Spinners offense erupted Monday night to score a franchise high 21 runs. Cambridge broke things open early in the 2nd scoring 7 runs. This was a total team effort as 6 different Spinners had multi-hit games, 9 scored runs, and 7 guys had RBIs. Leading the charge were rookie Ryan Feeny (3-4, two 2Bs, one 3B, 6 RBIs) and Matt Gioia (4-4, 4 Runs). Also with multiple Hits/RBIs were MABL veterans the M's (Tufo, Navarro), Valdiviezo, Killoren and Knell; in total 8 Spinners had hits.

Blum made his 2017 debut getting the W, while striking out 8 Giants.

For the Giants, Savas stayed hot with 2 hits.

Spinners and Giants meet one last time this Friday.

The Giants jump back into sole possession of first place with a 6-0 win against the Dodgers in East Boston. Tom Plumitallo threw a CG shutout giving up only 3 hits and striking out 7.

The Giants offense had runners on in almost every inning but was not able to break through until the 4th on a Zac Stiffler RBI single. They would add runs each of the next 2 innings and finally blew the game open on a Paul Branche 2 RBI triple in the 6th.

The Giants are back in action Monday night when they take on the Spinners.

The Giants take a big step in locking up a first round bye with a 2-1 win over the A's in Waltham. Phil Carignan threw another impressive CG, striking out 6 and giving up one unearned run. Carignan also shined at the plate driving in the go ahead run with a 2 out triple in the 6th to give the Giants the lead for good. Brett Nowlin & Jared Walsh each added 2 hits to lead the Giants offense

The A's Jason Kurtz went toe to toe with Carignan giving up only 2 runs over 7 innings.

The Giants are back in action Thursday night against the Dodgers.

Kocher gets his 8th win of the season as the Spinners pulled into first place with a 3-2 come from behind win. He pitched 4 innings giving up 2. P.Donohoe made his season debut in the 5th pitching two shutout innings of relief. Clapp shut the door in the 7th to get his 5th save of the season.

Down 2-0 in the third, the Spinners loaded the bases but the Giants took advantage of an early infield fly rule call and turned a double play. In the confusion, Danny Caceres scored to cut the lead 2-1. In the fourth, Ryan Feeney walked and Greg Megerdichian reached on an error. They both scored on a Mike Navarro sac fly and another error to take the lead. Clutch fielding and timely pitching kept the Giants off the board for the win.

Jared Walsh pitched a complete game for the Giants with four strikeouts.

The Giants continue to keep pace with the Spinners, improving their record to 13-2 with a win over the Cutters. The Giants took a 3 run lead in the first and never looked back, as Phil Carignan held the Cutters to just a single unearned run over 6 innings. The Cutters offense was by no means anemic, posting 9 hits over those six innings, but a combination of 7 strikeouts from Carignan and 2 outfield assists from Tom Plumitallo and Jared Walsh was enough to hold them to just a single run.

The Giants will look to pull away in the standings next week as they face off against the Spinners this Sunday and the As on Tuesday.

The Giants continued their winning ways posting 13 runs against the Orioles, with Tom Plumitallo and Paul Branche picking up 2 hits a piece. Trey Benitez and Brett Nowlin allowed just 4 runs on 5 hits. Nowlin racked up 5 strikeouts while allowing 0 earned runs over five innings of relief.

The Giants will head to Waltham this Thursday to take on the Cutters and hope to continue building momentum as they head into a two game series with the Spinners next week.

On a picturesque Sunday in Charlestown, the surging Waltham Athletics took on the South Shore Giants in what was expected to be an excellent pitching duel with Brett O'Keefe facing off against Jared Walsh. The A's came into the game with a 6 game winning streak which they looked to extend, while the Giants sought to begin the second half of their season with a win against another team vying for a coveted first round playoff bye. The Giants took an early 2-0 lead in the first with RBI base hits from Zac Stiffler and Abel Faron. The offensive success would be short lived however, as O'Keefe was able to settle down and blank the Giants for the next four innings.

Walsh provided another solid start for the Giants, pitching 4 scoreless innings before a combination of defensive miscues and timely hitting allowed the A's to take a 3-2 lead in the 5th. It would not be enough, as the Giants managed to battle back scoring 2 runs in the bottom

Phil Carignan outlasted Mike Cole in a great pitchers duel at Moxley Field in Watertown. Carignan threw 8 innings giving up only 1 hit, no earned and striking out 6.

The Giants offense had plenty of chances but Cole was able to pitch out of most of them. The Giants put the first 2 men on in the 8th but Cole was able to get Jon Savas to ground into a 5-3 double play. With a man on 2nd and 2 outs, Zac Stiffler stepped up and ripped a base hit up the middle allowing Joff Smith to score. The Giants are now 10-2 at the halfway point of the season and look to improve on their record Sunday against the A's.

The Giants prevail under the lights in Roslindale in a back and forth affair with the White Sox. The White Sox jumped out to a early 2-run lead in the 2nd but the Giants quickly responded with 7 in the bottom half of the inning. The White Sox would again take the lead in the 3rd only for the Giants to come back in the 5th, this time for good.

Dave Clarke picked up his first MABL save spinning 2 scoreless innings to seal the deal for the Giants. The Giants offense exploded for 15 hits, led by Plumitallo, Savas, Smith and Faron who each had multiple hits, RBI's and Runs scored. The Giants are back at it Saturday morning against the Dodgers.

Newcomer Mike Galvin earned a victory in his first Cutters start allowing 1ER over 4.1 innings of work. The Cutters scored 5 in the first but the Giants fought back to cut the lead to 5-3. The Cutters added 2 runs of insurance in the top of the 7th. Joe Perna earned the save.

Spinners give the Giants their first loss of 2017. After jumping out to a 3 run lead in the 1st on a Plumitallo double, the Giants tacked on another run in the 3rd. In the 4th the Spinners were able to plate 6 runs on a rally started by Knell and Killoren (2 hits). Dan Blum entered the game in the 5th w/ the bases loaded and 0 outs. He was able to hold the Giants scoreless on a flukey 1-2-3 DP. Blum kept the Giants bats off balance the rest of the night, while the Spins scored 2 more in the 6th to pick up the win.

The Giants improved to 7-0 in a tight, rain-plagued game in Roslindale. Tom Plumitallo got the win giving up 3 earned over 6 with 6 strikeouts, and drove in 2 RBI on a single in the 1st. The A's fought back to make it close in a wet 7th until Jared Walsh relieved Plumitallo for his 2nd save of the year.

Paul Branche and Anthony Montone each added 2 hits with Branche driving 1 and Montone scoring twice.

The Giants look to stay perfect this Saturday when they take on the Dodgers.

While the Giants offense was busy maintaining its torrid pace, rookie pitcher Phil Carignan spent the morning baffling Orioles hitters taking a no-hitter into the 7th. Carignan ultimately got the win in his first start of the season, throwing a complete game and surrendering just one run on two hits while picking up 7 strikeouts.

The Giants offense jumped out to a commanding lead early in the game an never looked back. The Giants plated 6 in the first, with 3 runs coming on a bases-cleaing double by Chad Griffiths. The Giants continue to score in bunches and showed a surge in power, scoring 5 runs in the fourth with doubles by Clarke, Savas, Carignan, and Nowlin.

At 6-0 the Giants will look to keep their momentum rolling as the weather and season heats up, returning to their home field next Saturday to take on the Cutters.

The Giants improved to 5-0 on the season during a back and forth affair against the Red Sox in Charlestown. The Red Sox struck first but Zac Stiffler's 2 out 2 RBI single gave the Giants a 3rd inning lead.

The Red Sox bats were scorching all game helping them push 3 runs across in the 5th and another in the 6th to take a 5-4 lead. The Giants battled back in the 7th when Jon Savas blasted a 2 RBI triple into the right center field gap. The 1 run lead was all Brett Nowlin needed to close the game out for the Giants first come back win of the year.

For the second straight game the Giants defense showed up making a plethora of great plays to take huge hits away from the Red Sox.

The Giants will host the Orioles next Saturday in Watertown.

The Giants put together their best team effort of the year behind the arm of Jared Walsh who threw 6 scoreless, giving up 4 hits and striking out 6. Jon Savas and Zac Stiffler led the offense with 2 hits each, driving in 3 and 2 respectively. The Giants defense thrived in their first game on their new home field.

Rookie Holden French recorded his first 2 hits in the MABL and looks to continue his hot stretch when the Giants meet the Red Sox again Sunday morning to complete the weekend home and home.

The Giants bats stay awake after a 3 week layoff as they take down the Dodgers in Newton. Jared Walsh temporarily blew the game open with a bases loaded triple during a 6 run 4th inning for the Giants. The pesky Dodgers would battle back with 2 in the 7th, but Walsh came in to close the door and get the Giants some retribution from last years playoffs.

Abel Faron drove in his first MABL RBI while Phil Carignon continued his torrid pace going 3-3 with a walk.

The Giants are back in action Thursday night in Roslindale against the Orioles.
