Eric Walz throws the first postseason no hitter in CABL's young history while going 3-4 with an RBI at the plate. Shaun McAuliffe also went 3-4 scoring 3 times while Billy McGee and Brian McCarthy both went 2-4 and Mike Carpentier chipped in with a 2 run double to snap the 1-1 tie in the fourth.
The Cubs take on the #6 seed Metro Gators Wed night at Twi Field in Danvers.

In the final game of the regular season, the braves had already locked up the #1 seed for the playoffs, but didn't let up on the gas as they rolled into the playoffs. Ariel Ramos (CGW; 3H, 0ER, 7K, 3BB) went the distance for his 6th win on the year. Pierre New (2-4; 2RBI, K) and Brandon Polignone (1-3; 2RBI, BB) knocked in the first two runs in the first inning and the Braves didn't look back plating 5 more including 4 in the 6th inning to put the game out of reach.

Derick MacDowell (W; 6IP, 2H, 0R, 4BB) got the start against the floundering Thunder and was un-hittable against them. MacDowell gave up only 2 hits through his 6 innings and none in his last three frames. Gus Polidor (2-4; 2RBI, 2R, SB) showed his prowess at the plate with his two hits, two runs and two RBIs. Matt Church (1-3; 3B, SB, RBI) come through in the second inning with a stand-up triple knocking in a run.

The Braves hosted the Cubs in Charlestown where Austin Teal (CGSO; 3H, 7K) shut them down on a 3-hit performance. He as also the biggest contributor at the plate with 3 hits and a walk on the day.

Ariel Ramos (CGW; 2ER, 3H, 6K) kept the pirates at bay allowing 2 run on only 2 hits. Though walking 5 batters Ramos held down the Pirates long enough for the Braves to score 6 and solidify their lead in the conference. Mark Maloney (1-3; 2RBI, 2B, 2R) lead the charge in the 2nd inning with a two-run double which have the Braves as much as they would need. Brandon Polignone 2-3; 2RBI) added some insurance in the 4th with a one-run single.

Austin Teal (W; 5IP, 3K, BB, H) locked down his 4th with of the season tying him for team and league lead. Teal was dominant giving up only 1 hit, one walk and a hit batter. The Braves did all the damage they would need in the first inning. After Derick MacDowell (1-2; 2RBI, 2SB) knocked in the first two runs, the Braves would not need anymore offense while shutting out the Giants.

Ariel Ramos (7IP; 10K, 2BB, 9H) found himself in some trouble early in the first inning allowing the first 5 batters of the game to reach. 2 runs scored before he struck out the side and kept anyone from scoring till the 7th. The Braves offense floundered all game until 2 outs in the 7th, down by two. Donnell Hightower (2-3; R, 2RBI) hit a two-run single followed by a two run double by Fernando Osario (2-4; 2B, 2RBI). That was enough for the Braves as they won 5-3 taking back first place.

The Royals went into this past weekend a half game out of first place behind the Malden Braves. And on Friday night, some timely hitting and a great pitching performance by Chris Johnson put the Royals in first place with a 5-2 victory. Johnson went 6 innings giving up 2 runs (both unearned) on 6 hits with 3 walks and 3 Ks. Kevin Ceurvels pitched a scoreless 7th inning notching his first save of the season. With the game tied at 2 in the top of the 5th, Mike Ahearn hit a pop up behind the pitchers mound which hit off the glove of second baseman Matt Church. With no one covering second base, Ahearn hustled around first base and when an errant throw to try and get him skipped into center field, Ahearn just kept running and made it to third base. Dominic Coviello drove him in with an RBI single and two batters later, Bryan Weber singled to left driving in two more runs putting the Royals on top for good.

After allowing the first batter to reach and score, Ramos got out of every jam and held the Indians to 2 hits through 6 innings. The Braves continued their streak of consecutive innings with a hit to 18 innings before missing out another in the 6th inning. Kevin Silva (3-3, R) accounted for a third of the hits on the day.
