Coyne kept the Spinners' bats off balance all night and worked out of a bases loaded, one out jam in the bottom of the 7th by striking out the last two batters to secure the win.

Spinners 1 0 0 6 0 2 x 9 10 2

The Spinners clinch the division for the 1st time in franchise history with a win over the Senators Monday night. Winners of 4 straight and 6-3 in the month of August, the Spinners avoid the frenzied tie break discussions on the MABL message boards.

Led by valiant pitching efforts from position players Steve Walsh and Mike Mori and an inspired performance by Joe Tufo, the Spinners emerged victorious. After scoring an early run in the 1st, the Spinners lost momentum by giving up 4 runs in the 3rd. But for the first time this season, the Spinners came from behind for the win by scoring 6 runs of their own in the fourth. The rally was punctuated by a 2 out, 2 strike, 2 RBI single by Joe Tufo who also turned in a gold glove performance in the OF. Spinners would add 2 more late to give Kevin Brennan enough runs to seal the deal. All told, 6 players chipped in RBIs and the Spinners look to bring their hot bats to the playoffs.

Sat, 10 July, 12:00PM, at Brighton - Cassidy (CCircle) (Game 2 of DH)
Tigers 11, Senators 1

 Summary | Box Score
Final 1 2 3 4 5 R H E
Tigers 1 0 7 2 1 11 13 0
Senators 0 0 0 1 0 1 4 4

Tensions ran high in game 2, as the heat and humidity proved to be too much for both the Senators and Tigros. The Tigers jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead in the first on a Mayes (2-3, 2 RBI's) RBI double, and wouldn't look back from there. Tensions heated in the 3rd after a brief convo between Gib, Birdy, and Alberto helped play a huge factor into the Tigers putting up a 7 spot pushing the game out of reach. Tigers starter Josh Vernon (5 in., ER, 4 K's) pitched well picking up his first win since 2003. A downpour would end the game in the 6th, giving the Tigers a sweep of the double header and season series. Silk, Gib, Mayes, Stevens, and M. Vern all had mutiple hits in the win. Dave Timmons had a hit and run for the Sens in helping to keep his team sound throughout the day.
