The A's take game 1. The A's got on the board in the 1st and scored two in the 3rd to make it 3-0. The Sox rallied for two runs in the bottom of the 6th to cut it to 3-2, but the A's came right back to score two in the top of the 7th on a 2-RBI triple by Patrick Vetter. Jason Kurtz notched his second W of the playoffs, battling through six innings and allowing only two earned runs while getting out of trouble many times. Vetter went 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBI. For the White Sox, Naumo notched two hits.
