The Spinners jumped out to a early lead and held on for a 6-3 win over the Grays in game one of their first round series. Luc Kocher pitched six shutout innings, giving up three hits while striking out seven. Marty Clarke and Dan Blum came on in relief in the seventh to secure the win. The Spinners scored all of their runs in the second inning, sending ten batters to the plate. Ricky Salvia had two hits and drove in a run, while Omar Caceres had a triple and scored a run. The Grays mounted a rally in the seventh. Paul Branche, Matt Giblin and Dan Combs scored runs and the Grays loaded the bases, but the rally came up short. The Spinners will look to sweep the series tomorrow night in Malden.
