Spinners 3, Brewers 2
The Spinners punched their ticket to the finals with a 3-2 win over the Brewers Friday night, winning the series three games to one. Down 2-0 in the sixth, the Spinners rallied for three runs. Omar Caceres tied the game on a two-run double and scored the go-ahead run on a Mark Killoren triple. Pat Canning made a game-winning catch to stop a Brewer rally and preserve the win.
The Brewers scored first in the third inning when Chris Klotzbier scored on a Jay Gomes fielder's choice and added another in the fourth when Isaac Valvidiezo singled and scored on a Klotzbier single.
Steve Lippi earned the win on the mound for the Spinners, while Steve Mattini came on for the save. Gomes and Valvidiezo both combined for a solid game for the Brewers.
With the win, the Spinners await the winner of the White Sox-Cutters series for the league title. |
