Tigers 5, Senators 4
The Tigers leave the jungle alive after a well-fought game with the Senators. Both teams battled an inconsistent zone, but after the Senators took the lead on a Timmons bases-loaded single in the top of the 5th, the Tigers jumped right back out front with 4 in the bottom half. With 2 outs and a man on 2nd, 2 walks loaded the bases for Nate Pane who delivered on the first pitch with a line drive single to left. After another walk to Murphy, the Big Swede brought the hammer down with a 2 RBI single of his own.
After Houlding put 2 on with 1 out in the 6th, Copson came up HUGE, getting the hold thanks to a 1-2-3 DP to end the inning. Despite making things interesting, Riordan was able to finish the game, on a nice play by Giblin, for the save.
Matt Coyne pitched a great game for the Senators giving up just the 4 hits, with 6 K's. The Senators were a tough opponent all season, great game guys, and good luck next year! |
