Mariners 9, Rangers 5
In the continuation of the previously suspended Wild Card game between the Rangers and Mariners, the M's were able to nail down their first playoff victory in franchise history. It was a complete team effort, as 9 different Mariner hitters collected at least 1 hit.
Of note, EJ Freni provided an incredibly gutsy performance on the mound, pitching the first 4 innings on Tuesday then coming back to finish the final 3 innings two days later. Offensively, Henri Valois (3-4) and Rocco Rauseo (2-4) had multi-hit games, while Ed Bourget, Jeff Rausch, and EJ Freni each collected 2 RBI apiece.
For the Rangers, Coley O'Donnell had two hits including a bomb to right field that showed his league-leading HR total was no accident. The triple plated 2 runs and nearly ignited a 7th inning comeback.
Congratulations to the Rangers for all their successes this year. |
