In a must win game for the Senators, Matt Coyne came through and carried the team to game 3 of the Bay State semifinals. Coyne pitched all 7 striking out 6 and only allowed 1 ER on 3 hits. The Astros struck first, scoring 1 in the 1st on an error. However, the Senators answered back with 2 of their own. Pete Grasso walked and then stole 2nd. Jason Ackerson followed with a single to left moving Grasso to 3rd. Ackerson would then steal 2nd but an errant throw down allowed Grasso to score. Lombardi then followed with a single to 3rd moving Ackerson into scoring position. Jim O'Donnell would then plate Ackerson on a sac fly to right. The Astros would tie it up 2-2 in the 2nd with a walk, a single, a hit batsman and another walk. Down 3-2 in the 5th, the Senators would fight back.
