The Marlins took the early advantage in the best of three conference semi finals with a 6-1 victory over the White Sox at Cleveland Circle. Hiro Nakamura was in postseason form, going the distance for the Fish when they needed it most. Hiro scattered five hits and struck out 6, while keeping the Sox off balance with a deceptive delivery. The Marlins got all of the offense they would need in the 3rd, when Andy Katz scored on an error, and Chris Ryan doubled in Adam Etherington before scoring himself. Katz later added some insurance in the 5th with an RBI single. Dan Field stood out behind the plate for the White Sox, gunning down two would be Marlin base stealers.
