The O's won a pitchers duel, as Bo Gillette beat Nelson Castillo in a tight game where each pitcher went the distance and racked up 11 K's. The 8th inning in particular was full of drama. In the top half, the O's did it with smallball. Julio Gonzalez led off with a bunt single and ultimately scored on a successful squeeze play by Billy Connor. In the bottom half, Andrew Miller led off with a single and Omar Ortiz followed with another hit to left field. However, LF Seth Desilets threw a strike to third base to erase the lead runner trying to go 1st to 3rd. Gillette then worked around a walk to get his final K and a game-ending groundout. The series continues at Chelsea HS this Friday at 8pm, if the weather cooperates. Game 2 probables: Stasio vs. Ruiz.
