Tigers clinch the top spot in the Bay State Division with a resounding victory over the Mariners.

The Tigers jumped out early with 3 runs in the first and never looked back as 3 Tigers had multi-hit games including a 2-hit effort from Long in the leadoff spot and Gibby in the 9-hole, as well as another solid performance from Pollard providing the first and GW RBI.

Murphy had a shot at an "inside-the-park" HR with a blast to right, but was running on fumes as he was cut down at home on a 8-4-3-2 putout.

Wlodarczyk continued his Cy-worthy season going right after the Mariners, allowing just one runner to reach 3rd and keeping everyone involved.

Big Ups to the Mariners on their season, and best of luck next year.

Tigers 0 0 0 1 0 9 x 10 10 1

The Tigers get back on track with their best win of the year. The Mariners jumped out to a quick lead on a 3-run bomb by VanReenan, but that would be the last hit of the game for the Mariners...they did get hit a couple of times though (4 HBP) "Don't Rub IT!"...meanwhile the Tigers struggled with Walters' arsenal as he allowed just 2 hits through 5 IP, though one of which was a shot to left from Sway-bo.

As Houlding continued his effective wildness, the Tiger O was able to chip away with some good at-bats and a few clutch hits, including Star of the Game Feliciano's leadoff single and 2-RBI singles from Griff and Field.

When the smoke had cleared, the Tigers had taken a 10-3 lead going into the top of the 7th. Despite allowing the first 2 batters to reach, Houlding was able to finish the game with another K and secure the Tiger VICTORYYY!!!

The game was an outstanding pitchers duel that remained scoreless until the bottom of the 6th. Kevin Brennan of the O's and Joe Perna of the Mariners kept putting zeroes on the board until Jay Thomas plated Ivan Campos with a clutch two-out single to push the Orioles ahead 1-0.

In the 7th, the Mariners fought back valiantly, rallying to chase Brennan from the game and stake themselves to a 2-1 lead. Ronnie Maddrey stopped the bleeding for the O's by throwing out at the plate what would have been the 3rd Mariner run.

In the home half of the 7th, the Orioles were not to be denied, loading the bases with only one out. Ryan Bere laid down a perfect squeeze bunt to tie the game, and Andy Murachver followed with an infield single to give the Birds a walkoff win.

Healey didn't disappoint, allowing only 1 Mariner runner to score. But on this day Freni was better. Freni shut out the O's and limited them to only 3 hits. The Birds threatened in the 3rd and 7th, but in both innings O's runners were cut down at the plate.

The Mariners tallied their lone run when Jeff Rausch stole third and advanced home on an overthrow. Frank Rich, Ed Bourget, and Dave Salafia chipped in with 2 hits apiece.

The Mariners and Orioles will go at it again on Friday May 11.

Mariners 2 0 0 0 0 0 0 2 7 2
Astros 0 0 0 2 2 0 x 4 3 2

Anchored by strong pitching, the Astros scored a comeback victory over the Mariners, 4-2. The M's launched a 2-0 lead in the 1st, but starter Anthony Leonelli shut the door from there and the bullpen followed suit. Mariners starter Jarlin Gomez pitched well at times but walked eight and took the loss.
Leo pitched well through the first four, but the decision and win went to rookie Scott MacKenzie. He threw a ten pitch fifth with some help from his catcher Shu Sasaki, who gunned down Jeff Rausch (3H,RBI,R) trying to steal 2nd.
Sasaki had tied the game in the 4th with an RBI single that scored Rich Newman. The stros took the lead in the fifth and set the table for one of the great MABL saves of all time. Josh Vernon got an out in the sixth, but an error on a double play ball and a walk loaded the bases with one out. Then closer Mike Vernon came in and struck out two players on six pitches total and then the side in the seventh.

Vernon K's five in one and two thirds for the save.
