The White Sox completed the series sweep against the Marlins in convincing fashion as they scored 4 in the first and never looked back. Ivan Clemente scored five runs from the leadoff spot while going 2 for 3 with a double and 3 HBPs. Will Bissonette was also swinging a hot stick going 3 for 3 with 3 walks and 3 runs scored. Biss also had a very busy day in the field with 8 assists and 3 put outs.

Tom Spoth (2 for 4, 5RBI) and Jason Hoye (3 for 5, 4 RBI) were the reason for most of the runs as they drove in 9 runs between them. Hoye added a terrific diving grab in the 3rd to rob Katz of a hit.

On the mound Dave Martin pitched a solid 5 innings. Dave yielded only 2 hits and 1 unearned run while picking up the W for the Sox. Matt LoPresti and Matt Smith each threw and inning to close things out for the Sox.

For the Marlins, the lone bright spot was Paul Bracco's perfect day at the plate. Bracco went 2 for 2 with a run scored.

Ivan, Hoye and Spoth made sure the runs were coming in bunches for the Sox.

Chris Stone was dominant on the mound for the Sox as he threw a 4-hit shutout over the Marlins. Stone only allowed 2 men to reach scoring position on the day, and walked none while K'ing 6.

The Sox defense was nearly as good as Stone as they went errorless, and were highlighted by a diving TJ Unger catch and some nifty plays by Bissonette at SS.

Doherty matched Stone early as he faced the minimum through 3 innings. The Sox then broke through in the 4th as Felix Villalobos walked (only walk of the game), stole second, and scored on a clutch 2-out RBI by Will Bissonette. In the 4th, a leadoff double by Dave Martin and a bunt single by TJ Unger combined with 2 Marlin errors to result in 2 more Sox runs. Ivan Clemente then led off the 6th with a double and later scored on a Martin groundout to cap the scoring.

For the Marlins, Garland, Desanto, Skypeck and Becker each had singles.

The Marlins wrote their ticket to the Atlantic Conference Semifinals by clinching the #3 seed on Monday night. The Fish have won 8 straight and 12 of their last 14 games.

Anthony Leonelli pitched the first 5 innings, and Kevin Brennan closed it out with 2 scoreless frames.

The Fish got multi-hit games from MVP candidate Paul Bracco (2-3, 4 runs), Davin Wilfrid (2-3, 2 R, 2 RBI), and Mike Mori (2-5, 1 R, 2 RBI). Todd Garland had the longest shot of the game with a two-RBI double to left.

Adam Nichols was 2-3 with a run scored for the Athletics.

Neil Doherty and Sean MaGee both went the distance in a 10 inning Marlin victory. After Mike Ciano singled home the tying run in the sixth, MaGee and Doherty each pitched their way out of trouble in extra frames. Doherty squeeked out of a bases loaded, none out situation in the 7th and MaGee clamped down with a runner on third with no out in the top of the 8th.

Paul Bracco (2-4, 2RBI) was once again the hero for the Fish, doubling home Chris Dutton (2-4, 2 runs) in the top half of the 10th. Other big contributors were Dav Wilfrid (2RBI) and catcher Mike Desanto, who caught all ten innings for the Teal.

In a battle of great pitching, the Marlins edged the Reds 2-1 on Sunday afternoon.

The Marlins did all their damage in the first two frames. Andy Katz led off the game with a single, and scored on a Mike Mori grounder. The Marlins made it 2-0 in the 2nd inning on a Karl Cyr RBI single.

Chris Allen retired the next 12 Marlins hitters. The Reds added 1 run in the 6th inning, but Kevin Brennan shut the door in the 7th to secure the victory for the Fish.

The Marlins have won 5 straight games, and 9 of their last 11.

Brennan gets 3 inning save; Allen pitches well for Reds.

Neil Doherty got the W for the Fish, his 4th consecutive complete game victory. The Chancellor scattered 7 hits and struck out 4 in a pitcher's duel with Shane Steffens, who only allowed 2 hits in 6 innings of work.

The Marlins scored 4 runs in the 2nd, highlighted by RBI singles from Jason Skypeck and Andy Katz.

Doherty and defense made it stand up. Outfielders Leonelli, Bracco, and Becker played solid defense all day long.

The Marlins look to extend their winning streak tomorrow, when they play two at historic Ryan Field.

Behind the reliable arm of Anthony Leonelli (CG, 3H, 4K), the Marlins defeated the White Sox at rocky, Ryan Field on Sunday. Mike Desanto jumpstarted the Fish offense in the 2nd inning with an RBI triple. Tim Sheflin plated Desanto with a two-out RBI single. The White Sox made it 2-1 on a Felix Villalobos sacrifice fly in the 3rd, but that is as close as they would get.

The Marlins played small ball to manufacture 3 more runs. In the 3rd, Gregg Howard stayed in a rundown long enough to allow Paul Bracco to score. In the 5th, Andy Katz advanced from 1st to 3rd on a Karl Cyr bunt, and then scored on a wild throw. Cyr and Katz teamed up again in the 7th inning to add an insurance run with a suicide squeeze.

Defensively, Tim Sheflin (2-3, RBI) made several key picks at first base.

By winning their 7th game in the last 9, The Marlins poked their fins above water for the first time in the 2006 season.

Brian Caccavalle threw his third consecutive complete game to lead the Fish to victory on Saturday. Cack scattered 5 hits and struck out 6 to earn his 2nd win of the season.

The Marlins busted out of the gates with 5 runs in the 1st inning thanks to an RBI double by Paul Bracco, and RBI singles from Karl Cyr (2-4, 2 RBI, 1 R, SB) and Ricky Barbato.

The Marlins quickly had two baserunners on in the 2nd after Kevin Brennan singled and Bracco was hit by a pitch. Brennan scored on a Mike Mori (2-4, RBI, 2R, SB) double, and Gregg Howard drove in Bracco with a sacrifice fly. Mori scored later in the inning to make it 8-1. The Marlins added one more in the 6th inning on an RBI single from Todd Garland.

Frank Rich paced the Mariner offense, going 2-3 and scoring both Mariner runs.

The Marlins battled back from defecits of 3-0 and 4-1 to beat the Padres at Ryan field. Neil Doherty earned his second complete game win in 4 days. After allowing 4 runs in the first 3 innings, Doherty tightened the screws and only allowed 5 baserunners the rest of the way.

The Marlin offense was paced by Mike Mori (3-3, 2R, 2 SB) and Andy Katz (2-2, 1BB, 1R, 3 SB) who reached base all 6 times they came to the plate. Paul Bracco extended his hitting streak to 11 games with an RBI single in the 3rd inning.

Steve Baldasarri led the Padre offense with 3 singles and 2 runs scored.

Neil Doherty scattered seven hits and benefited from some great defensive plays by 2B Andy Katz and 1B Davin Wilfrid as the Marlins evened the season series versus the Cutters with a 3-2 win. The Cutters caught a bad break when (with none out) a bases loaded bomb hopped over the fence for a ground rule double in the 4th. With two runners in scoring position, Doherty and the Fish tightened the screws and recorded three consecutive outs without allowing a Cutters run.

Offensively, the Marlins were paced by Wilfrid (2-3, 1R, 1RBI), Paul Bracco (1-3, 1R), and a clutch RBI triple by Mike Mori in the bottom of the sixth.

The Marlins earned a victory in a wild early Sunday morning affair at McKinney Field. Brian Caccavale locked up with the Astros' Ron Viola for five innings of what looked to be a pitcher's duel before the teams combined for fourteen runs in the sixth. All-Stars Paul Bracco and Davin Wilfrid sparked the uprising with two RBIs and two runs scored each in the big inning. Al Becker also contributed a big two out, two run double to help bolster the lead. Caccavale gutted out the last two innings to deliver a much-needed complete game to the Marlins' depleted pitching staff.

Clark, Byrne, Walsh, and Peterson led the Astros' ten hit attack with two hits apiece.

Tigers Rookie Rich Wlodarczyk picks up his first career win in a solid outing against the Marlins. Rich went 6 strong, giving up only 2 hits along the way. Eric Riordan closed it out with a big K for his second save of the season.

Earl Murphy (1-3, HR, 2RBI) led the Tiger offense as he blasted his 2nd Bomb of the season. This time it was the ball that required oxygen, not Earl, as his 2-run shot easily cleared the left field fence, and proved to be the game winner. Chad Griffiths got his first hit of the season, a double in the second that drove home Pat Long with the Tigers first run. The Tigers looked to put the game away in the 4th, but with 2 on and 2 out, Dumas' scorching line drive was snagged on a fantastic diving play by the Marlins' Dutton keeping things close.

Kevin Brennan pitched well, but took the tough loss. Caccavalle, Skipeck, and Garland had the lone Marlins' hits on the night.

In less than 1.5 hours the Senators topped the Marlins 2-0. Greg Conant picked up his second complete game win in as many tries.

The game was tied 0-0 going into the bottom of the 5th when Joe Lombardi led off with a bunt single down the third base line. Lombardi would move to second on a balk and then to third on a single by Jason Ackerson. Rafael Mejia would then plate Lombardi on a hard single to left. Back to back singles by Greg Conant and John Howe would add one more.

Neil Doherty pitched well for the Marlins in a losing effort.

The Marlins and the White Sox have only played two games this season so they decided to make up for it by going extra innings. In the 1st, both teams traded a run. For the Sox, TJ Unger led off with a double and was driven home by another Will Bissonette double. For the Marlins, Andy Katz led off with a HBP, stole second and then scored when Paul Bracco singled, and the throw went for an error.

That was all the scoring for a while, as Martin Minns (6IP, 1R, 6K, 2H) for the Sox and Leonelli (7IP, 1ER, 2K, 7H) for the Marlins matched up in a great pitcher's duel.

Then, the game became the Matt Smith show as Matt (1 for 1, RBI) picked up the win in relief by driving home Mike Lembo with an RBI single in the top of the 9th. Matt (W, 3IP, 0R, 2H, 3K) then finished off the Marlins in the bottom of the 9th thanks in large part to a great double play turned by himself (who else?).

Bryan Healey pitched a complete game 3-hitter in his MABL debut for the Orioles. The game ended in dramatic fashion with a walkoff hit courtesy of Jay Thomas, who hit a ground ball through the infield scoring Taylor Velasco from 2nd base.

JT finished the game 2-3 with 2 RBI. Greg Gallivan drove in the other run with an opposite-field double in the 3rd.

The game was completed in a mere 90 minutes.

The Marlins kicked off the 2006 campaign with a 7-1 victory over the Mariners thanks to the usual contributions from ace Neil Doherty and slugger Davin Wilfrid. The Chancellor cruised through four innings, walking none and striking out three while allowing only an unearned run. The Fish staked him to an early lead when Al Becker singled with two outs, Wilfrid followed with a triple to deep left, and Paul Bracco singled to bring home Wilfrid. The Fish made it comfortable when a Karl Cyr double, Becker sacrifice fly, and Wilfrid's second triple helped post a crooked number in the second. Anthony Leonelli and Kevin Brennan finished the job with three innings of shutout relief.
