Medford Mets 6, Somerville Senators 1
In an epic championship showdown game that may have signaled the passing of the torch of MSBL pitching dominance from experience to youth, Medford Mets' ace Steve Hueston mixed a devastating sharp curve, 90 mph fastball, and ultra-sharp command of the strike zone to stymie a talent-laden, disciplined Somerville Senators lineup for nine innings. Senators starter Dan Murray gave up 2 more runs than in last Sunday's Game One 6-4 Senators victory, before departing the game with the bases loaded, handing the ball to MSBL Hall of Famer Steve Donovan. Pitching on two days rest, Donovan promptly extinguished the threat and held the Mets scoreless the rest of the way with his trademark precision pitching. By the game's -- and season's end -- however, the one-two punch of the Mets young right-handers, Eli Munkholm (Game 2 winner) and Hueston, outdueled the (please see Message Board for full summary) |

Scituate Tides 14, Medford Mets 7
Tides score a big victory versus Medford, their first in three years. Brian "Artificial Hip" Cassidy takes the win going five strong in relief. Cass was only able to throw change ups and knuckle balls as his new fake hip prevented any velocity, but as usual he was nasty and tough as nails. Everyone in the Tides lineup had at least one hit, but the thrill of the evening was at Kelley's Roast Beef, when Stoney nearly killed some kid named Junior after his Roast Beef sandwich took 20 minutes to arrive. We also met a lovely little dancer from the Cabaret who promptly ran to her car when we tried to talk to her. |
