The Hyde Park Bluefish defeated the South Boston Saints by the score of 7-1 on Sunday at Ross Field in Hyde Park. Kit Kadlec got the start and went 5 innings for the win, giving up 1 hit, 0 runs, while walking 3 and striking out 7. Offensively, the Bluefish got 3 hits a piece from Ryan McCrann (3 RBI) and Chris Santosuosso (1 RBI). Mike McCarthy drove in the lone S.Boston run with an RBI single in the 6th.

The Mariners entered the 7th inning with a 2-run lead, but the Saints came back to score two and push the game into extra innings. In the bottom of the 8th, Tony Iafolla belted a single to right with 2 runners on to score the game-winning run. Tony went 3-5 on the day, and the game-winner was his only RBI.

Kevin Spitz and Kyle Philson combined to pitch 6 innings of shutout baseball. The lone South Boston score came in the seventh inning. Kyle Philson picked up the win, his first of the season, going 4 strong inninings in relief. Spitz came out of the game in the 4th, due to injury.

Dave Mitrou's triple with 2 outs in the 3rd got things going offensively. Leland Boutilier drove him home with a single to RF. Gary Moran had 2 RBIs on a 2-3 day at the plate.

Tenney pitched 6 strong innings for South Boston, but ended up with the loss. Grammer had 2 hits for the Saints.

Medford manufactured single runs in 4 innings on a Joe Sheehan double, a Buddy Hanley sac fly, a Paul Russo ground ball and ground ball by Pete McKeown.

The Dog's defense was flawless with a great catch by Johnny Cunningham in right field on a Jay Lewis bomb.

Trailing by 2 in the top off the sixth Southie bats came alive and carried them to a late game victory led by Jason Lewis's bat. Lewis had some help from ppitcher Erich Quinn. East Boston's King led their offense with a couple of run scoring hits.

After an hour of work on the field the game started at 2:00 o'clock as rescheduled with the cooperation of Walter Bentson and the SSUA umpires.

Southie's young rookie pitcher Chris Dacey matched up against Savin Hill rookie Josh Hutchings (Whitman/Hanson)and both pitched exciting solid games.

Hutch contributed offensively to his cause with 3 hits and an RBI to lead the Hornets to an upset victory over the ever dangerous Southie ball club.

Batting out of the eigth spot, former Hornets scorekeeper, Paul Tritter's (Hyde Park) big 2 run RBI basehit in the 2nd inning spotted the Hornets a 3-0 lead and the defensive held on for the well earned upset victory.

YBL veteran Barry Masterman (Brighton Braves) closed the game for the Hornets with the tieing run at the plate getting 3 fly ball outs to right fielder Dan Kenney (Roxbury Latin) who had 6 putouts.
