The Astros snatched victory from almost certain defeat tonight at Fallon Field and sent this Bay State Conference Final to game 3. With nobody on and two out in the bottom of the seventh the 'stros were down by two. Tim Clark reached on a hard hit ball that made it through the first baseman. Then Tony Ricupero sent a base hit up the middle to get Clark to second. Then Sean Dowling launched a triple deep into the gap in left center to tie the game at 5. Two walks later (Mike Vernon and an IBB to Rich Newman) and the bases were loaded for Ron Viola. With two strikes, Viola hit one hard into the hole. Sean Magee made a great play to even get to the ball let alone field it and make a throw, but Viola beat it by a step or two and the heart attack 'stros had the win.
Sean Kennedy and Chris Allen started and each got a ND. Mike Vernon picked up the win with two innings of relief while Carlos Mejia took the loss.

Jamie Manciocchi, Mike Vernon, and Rich Newman all hit the ball hard and the stros defense was solid until Newman threw one almost as far as he hit one.
The Astros move on to face the Reds in a best of three series beginning Friday night at Ryan field.
The Senators played a gutsy series and Dave Timmons should win manager of the year for what he did with a first year team, talented though they are. Congratulations to all the Senators on a great season.
