Mariners pitcher Kevin Ludwig (CG, 1ER, 13Ks) had to wait until his fifth start to earn his first BMBL victory. It came in a game where the M's scored 11 runs thanks in large part to the efforts of Alan Donaruma (triple, double, single, 1 RBI), Jamie Aldoupolis (2 singles, 2 RBI), Jeff Rausch (triple, single, 1 RBI), and Dave Woods (2 singles). For Woods, his base hit in the sixth extended his hit streak to 8 games.

For the A's, Greg Wright (2 singles) and Ed Perez (2 singles) accounted for 4 of the 6 hits against Ludwig.

Ludwig notches first BMBL victory with 13 K's, Donaruma falls a HR short of the cycle, and Woods extended hit streak to 8 games.

The story of the night was offense for the Mariners, who finally had a break out game with the bats. Jon Freni (3 hits, 1 2B, 3 RBI), Jay LaPointe (2 hits, 2 RBI), Dave Woods (1 hit, 2 RBI) and Dave Salafia (1 hit, 1 2B, 2 RBI) all contributed significantly in the win.

The pitching of EJ Freni, coming off a great game against the Dodgers over the weekend, should not be overlooked. Freni went 6 innings in picking up his second consecutive win, allowing 1 run on 2 hits.

For the Red Sox, Matt O'Laughlin, Robert Johnson, and Austin Diamond collected hits.

EJ picks up another W, brother Jon knocks in 3 with 3 hits, Salafia cranks a breakout double.

On one of the hottest days of the summer, the Mariners battled back from an early 8-1 hole to beat the Dodgers 12-11. After a few late lead changes the Mariners scored two in the top of the seventh to go up one run, which was surprisingly all that was needed to win on a day when 23 runners crossed the plate and 25 hits were cranked out.

For the Mariners, the story of the game was the relief pitching of EJ Freni. The potent Dodger offense came up with 8 of their 13 hits through the first two innings. Freni would allow only 4 more over the remaining 5 innings, including retiring seven straight to end the game.

Offensively, the M's were led by Jamie Aldoupolis (4 RBI) and Rocco Rauseo (3 hits).

For the Dodgers, Dan Petro (2 singles, 1 HR), Adam Howes (3 singles), and Casey Turner (2 singles, 1 HR) each collected 3 hits.

The Marlins beat the Mariners 10-5 at venerable Clifford Field. The Marlins opportunistic offense was the story tonight, pushing across two runs in five different innings. Leading the way were 1-3 hitters Andy Katz, Gregg Howard, and Mike Mori who combined to bang out five hits, score five runs and steal three bases. Kevin Brennan cruised to his third victory of the season, striking out seven and at one point retiring seven straight Mariners. Behind him the Fish turned in another excellent defensive performance, committing only one error. Mariners southpaw Kevin Ludwig struck out eight in defeat.

Playing in his 100th game as a Marlin, Karl Cyr cranked out the first home run of his life in the fifth to cap a solid 2-4 performance at the plate.

In a matchup of BMBL juggernauts, the Mariners bested the Grays thanks to a late-inning comeback. For the Mariners, Jamie Aldoupolis had three hits and drove in 2 (the deciding 2 runs), Rocco Rauseo also drove in 2 runs, while esteemed BMBL veteran Dave Woods cranked out two hits. On the hill, Matt Englander picked up his first W of the season, sticking around long enough to benefit from the Mariner rally.

For the Grays, Patrick Long had a pair of triples and Matt Dumas came up with a big hit late to score a pair.

Jamie comes up with the game-winner, Woods picks up 2 hits, and Englander nets first W.

Carlos Mejia picked up his first career win giving up 2 runs in four innings of work. Phil Rosario threw the final three giving up no runs.

The Reds offense was paced by Sean Magee 2B, 3B, BB 3RBIs and 3 runs. Mike Knell had 2 doubles driving in 2 and scoring 3 times. Mike Ciano and Chris Allen also had multiple hit games.

Andrew Marenghi got his first win of the year by throwing a complete game 5-hitter against the Mariners. Marenghi stuck out 12 and only walked 1 while giving up 2 runs (1ER).

For the offense, TJ Unger (1 for 3, R, RBI) was all over the basepaths as he stole 5 on the day. Tom Spoth (1 for 3, 2B, R) hit a deep double in the 3rd and later scored. And, Mike Power (1 for 2, RBI, R, HBP) came up with a big 2-out RBI single to add some insurance in the 5th.

For the Mariners, Ross Sheppard hit and RBI triple in the 6th.

The Astros scored six runs in the bottom of the fifth to overtake the Mariners at Clifford last night by the score of 6-3.
Alan Donaruma stroked a 2 out, 2-run single to break the ice in the second and the M's added another on an RBI double by Chris Corde in the third.
Astros starter Jamie Manciocchi left the game in the fifth with a blister the size of Derek Lowe on his pitching hand. Ron Viola came on in relief and pitched 2.1 hitless innings to close it out and get the win.
Mariners starter Kevin Ludwig had the Astros off-balance until the 5th, but took the loss.
Tony Ricupero and Rich Newman each had two hits and a run and Mike Vernon drove in two. Joe Viola had perhaps the biggest hit of the night. After Cory Edgar scored Newman with a single, Joe hit a hard ground ball up the middle to score Sean Dowling. Both Edgar and Viola also scored on the play due to a throwing error and the 'stros had the lead for good.

The Indians plated their first four batters of the morning to set the pace on a 14-6 victory over the M's. Kevin Faria went 3-3 with a HR and 2 RBIs while Daryl Pina picked up the W pitching all seven innings.

Behind early 6-0 to the Orioles, the Mariners scored 8 unanswered runs in a come-from-behind 8-6 victory. The O's staked themselves to an early lead thanks in part to a 5-run 3rd inning. But Matt Dumont and EJ Freni did not allow a hit the rest of the game, enabling the M's to complete the comeback and pick up a win.

For the M's, Jason LaPointe (3 singles) and Matt Dumont (2 singles, 1 double) each collected three hits. Rocco Rauseo had two hits (double, triple) and drove in 3 runs. Matt Dumont (1-2) stuck around long enough to get his first BMBL win, with EJ Freni picking up the save.

The O's collected three triples on the day, 2 off the bat of Fran Morales (1 RBI) and 1 from Steve Maycock (2 RBI). Steve Magsam picked up the loss.

LaPointe, Dumont, & Rauseo accounted for 8 Mariners hits; Dumont picks up 1st win.

In 87 degree heat, the Sox faced off against the Mariners in Game 2 of their doubleheader. The Mariners jumped out to a quick lead when Alan Donaruma led off the game with a single. Jamie Aldoupolis followed with another single and then Jason LaPointe singled in Donaruma. That run and those 3 hits would be all White Sox pitcher Nate Pane would allow.

Nate Pane tossed the complete game victory, allowing just 3 first inning hits and a run, striking out 9.

In the 4th inning, the White Sox scored 2 runs and all they would need. Will Bissonnette singled and Jason Hoye reached via error. Ivan Clemente then singled in Bissonnette and Dave Martin singled in Hoye. The additional runs in the final 3 frames proved unneeded insurance.

Nate Pane tosses complete game victory.

A 4-4 tie game at the end of 7 innings forced extra frames. In the top of the 9th inning, the Mariners took a 5-4 lead when Jamie Aldoupolis hit a 2-out single that scored EJ Freni who had walked to start off the inning.

The White Sox fought back. In the bottom of the 9th inning, Brett Rudy led off with a strike out, but reached when the 3rd strike was dropped and an errant throw allowed him to reach. Matt Giblin pinch ran for Rudy. Kyle Michaud singled to put runners at 1st and 2nd. Will Bissonnette sac bunted perfectly, allowing Giblin and Michaud into scoring position to set the stage for Jason Hoye. Hoye delivered a 2-RBI walk off single to allow the White Sox victory.

Brian Houlding pitched 5.1 innings of relief for the win. Alan Donaruma pitched a complete game in tough defeat.

Brian Houlding tossed his 3rd career shutout as the White Sox defeated the Mariners 9-0. Houlding struck out 8, allowing 5 scattered hits and 4 walks to improve to 2-0.

The Sox jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead in the first inning when Kyle Michaud led off with a single, advanced on an errant pick-off attempt and later scored on a wild pitch.

But the game was really broken open in the 4th inning when Ryan Gray hit a 3-RBI bases-loaded triple. Jason Hoye added 2-RBI on a 7th inning double to seal the deal.

Dave Martin was also stellar in the outfield, as he twice made putouts in rightfield and then doubled-off aggressive runners back at first base for assists.

For the Mariners, Sean McLaughlin picked up 2 of the team's 5 hits.

The Mariners' Alan Donaruma came within two outs of throwing a no-hitter, and the M's picked up their first win of the season, 5-0. the Royals' Birk Jones broke up the no-hitter in the top of the seventh with a single to right, the only hit allowed by Donaruma on the day.

For the M's, Rocco Rauseo had two hits. Miles Shuman (1 RBI) and Ross Shepard (2 RBI) each drove in runs in support of Donaruma.

For the Royals, Jason Kurtz went the distance and allowed only 2 earned runs.

Donaruma tossed a one-hitter; while Rauseo had two hits and Shepard knocked in a pair.

The Senators capture their second win in two days. Duane Tynes pitched 6 strong innings, striking out 10 and giving up 1 earned run in his MABL debut. Kevin Szoke pitched the 7th to record his first save of the season.

The Senator offense was lead by Jason Ackerson who singled, walked, scored twice and had two stolen bases. John Howe contributed with a key sac fly in the 6th which proved to be the game winner.

For the Mariners, Alan Donaruma was dominant giving up only 2ER over 7 innings while striking out 10.

John Sutich hit a 3-run blast to right in the 3rd to start an 8 run inning, giving the A's a lead they wouldn't relinquish.

For the M's, Alan Donaruma and Jeff Rausch both went 2-for-3.
