It was a pitcher's duel, with both the Mariners and the Cardinals managing only 5 hits each. Two runs from the Mariners in the 1st inning proved to be enough. Nick Rotolo led off with a single, Jon Letourneau followed with another single, and Ari Hest drove in Letourneau with a double. For the Cardinals, Juan Valle doubled in the 2nd inning, and Juan Sanchez singled him in for their lone run. Matt McMillian may have saved the game. In the 6th inning, the Cards' Roman Colon stole second base and attempted to take third on an overthrow. McMillian retrieved the ball in centerfield and threw him out at third with a perfect one-hop throw, scooped by Mike Lembo, preserving the 2-1 lead. Levett was masterful, allowing just 5 hits and no walks in his first complete game win since July 18, 2010, when he was pitching for the Revere Rockies in the Yawkey League.

John Forbes earned his first W of the season, allowing just 1 run on 2 hits through 6 innings before the Sea Dogs mounted a late-game comeback. Saugus drew first blood, taking an early 1-0 lead in the 2nd. Crovo's leadoff walk, followed by a steal of both 2B and 3B, led to an RBI fielder's choice from Dow. The Sox quickly responded in the 3rd, taking a 2-1 lead on RBIs from Kal and Andujar. They would add another run in the 4th and 3 more in the 5th, with Andujar and Moise delivering clutch RBIs that extended their lead to 6-1 and seemingly put the game out of reach. However, the Sea Dogs refused to go down quietly. Trailing by 5 entering the 7th, their offense roared to life, rallying for 4 runs on 5 hits to narrow the gap to 6-5. With the bases loaded and the tension mounting, Steve Lippi entered the game in relief of Forbes, striking out 2 of the 3 batters he faced to secure the save and preserve the 6-5 victory.
