Boston Havoc 8, Somerville Senators 4
The Havoc jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning, as the first 4 batters reached and scored. Yet, the Senators bounced right back with 3 runs of their own in the bottom of the frame.
What started out as a slugfest settled into a tight game the rest of the way.
Mitch Philibert improved to 4-0 with a complete game. After the first Senators batter of the game reached on a misplayed ball to the outfield which ultimately allowed 3 unearned runs to score, Philibert allowed just 1 run the rest of the way. While the Senators had 13 hits, led by Darren Hartwell with 4, they stranded 11 runners.
For the Havoc, a 2-RBI base hit by Emilio King in the second inning would give the Havoc a 6-3 lead, and all the runs they would need. Adam Anderson knocked in 2 insurance runs with a 5th inning hit to make the score 8-4.
Of note, Jordan Siu got hit with a pitch for the 11th time of the season, which has to be a record, right? |

TAYLOR TWIRLS A GEM AS ATHLETICS MOVE TO 6-3
Taylor Landry threw a complete game, surrendering 1 unearned run, as the Athletics offense comes alive and the defense is solid.
The Senators would score in the top of the first, but the Athletics would get one right back. In the 4th, Christian would hit a double do drive in Carruthers (2-4) for the decisive run. The Athletics would tack on 2 more all with 2 outs in the 5th, thanks to a timely RBI 2B by Tapper, and an RBI single by Krall.
The victory puts the Athletics back on top of the crowded Red division in a 4-way tie for first at the near midpoint of the season. The Athletics look for some revenge against division foe Boston Havoc next Tuesday at Trum. The Senators drop to 4-6, and next travel up to Lowell to face the Mill City Mustangs next Tuesday. |

Seth Perkins of the Havoc and Chris Mitchell of the Senators matched up in a 90-minute pitchers dual that kept the outfielders bored. Only one out was recorded out of the infield the entire game.
Perkins (1-0) tossed a complete game shutout, allowing 3 hits and a walk with 8 strikeouts. Meanwhile, Mitchell (1-1) allowed just 2 hits, a walk, and 1 run with 9 strikeouts in 5.1 innings.
The game's only run scored in the second inning when Jordan Siu led off with a double. Multiple infield groundouts got Siu to cross the plate with Hectik Garcia notching the RBI.
In the 6th inning for the Senators, leadoff batter Jay Lapin walked and attempted to steal to put the tying run into scoring position. Siu, doing the catching, tossed him out with a pellet to second base. That was the closest the Senators would come to a chance to tie the game.
