The Thunder sent their godfather, Dave Brown, off with a win as they held off one hell of a comeback effort from a Mustang squad with no quit in it. Catcher John OKane partnered with North Andover pitchers Nick Buckman, Jason OLeary, and Matt Garon to keep the Mill City hitters just off-balance enough. James Thompson and Hector RAMOS tracked down every fly ball that came anywhere near them, while Thompson also paced the Thunder offense with 3 hits, a walk, and a RBI. Joe Barrera and Benny Bridger flexed their muscle at the plate, and Ramos, Garon, and Brown each chipped in timely hits. Nadonly could not be kept off the base paths for the Mustangs, with 3 hits, a walk, 2 steals, and a pair of runs. On the mound, Billy Beauschene made life difficult for Thunder hitters through 5 innings.

The Pirates bounce back with a win in the hostile confines of Campbell Field in Lowell, downing the Mustangs 6-3. Once the little leaguers were kicked out and sent home packing, The Pirates started off with a bang in the first inning as Dan Brookfield launched a solo homerun over the left field fence. Word on the ship is that he hit the dinger to compensate for his small hog. Ian Sales returned to the mound for the visiting Pirates and gave another complete game effort - surrendering 5 hits, 2 ER, 1 walk and striking out 12. For the Mustangs, the bright spot was a 3 run inning capped by a John Sholl 2 run single. Pirates host the visiting Boston Bison next Sunday at Julia Road in Weymouth at 10:00 AM

Spinners bats were alive tonight in a shortened 10 run game. Dan Blomerth led the Spinners to victory on the pitcher's mound. The lefthander allowed 5 hits and 2 runs over 3 ip, striking out four and walking zero. JM Doerr threw 2 innings in relief out of the bullpen. Cambridge racked up 12 hits in the game. M.Tufo, Navarro, Merrigan and Perna all collected multiple hits for the Spinners. Spinners are off until Aug. 4th.

In a slugfest in Lowell, the Boston Havoc came up on top. With a 14-3 lead, the Mustangs battled back, scoring 7 runs in the 6th inning, but it wouldn't be enough. For the Havoc, Seth Perkins improved to 2-1 with 5 innings of work and a season high 10 strikeouts. Offensively for the Havoc, Joe Thompson cracked his first 4-bagger of the season. Romello Carbuccia went 4 for 5 with 3 doubles. Kyle Johnson, Hectik Garcia, Jordan Siu and Rommel Peguero also had multi-hit games. For the Mustangs, the big moment was a solo homerun by John McDonald.
