The Twins held a 5-1 lead in the top of the second inning, until Acton came roaring back with three runs in the bottom of the fifth. Duxbury added a run in the top of the seventh to lead, 6-4. Acton scored once in its final at bat and had the tying run on base when the Twins turned a spectacular double play to end the game. Tony LaGreca picked up the win on the mound for Duxbury, while Bill Rhodes pitched well in defeat for the O's. |

The Homestead Gray Sox outlasted the Brockton A's 8-7 in a back and forth affair to even their semi-final series at 1-1.
Ted Maguire drove in Bob Dolezal with the winning run with one out in the bottom of the 7th.
Jimmy King (3 hits, 2RBI's), Kevin Locke (2 RBI's) and Mark Anderson (2 hits, 1 RBI) were key offensive performers for Homestead.
Shortstop McDonald (2 hits, 2 runs) and third baseman Spencer(3 hits, 3 runs) paced Brockton on offense and defense. |

The Orioles broke open a close game with nine runs in the top of the fourth. Dave Rutyna led the way for Acton with three hits, including a double, triple and six RBI. Jim Jackman had four hits and scored three runs, while Bill Rhodes, Charlie Tinschert, Dave Mayo and Dana Cox had two hits each.
Douglas Bolduc led the Townies who two hits, including a double in the third inning that drove in two runs. |

The Homestead Gray Sox completed a 2 game sweep over the Metro Red Sox 11-4. Tony Catalano went the distance scattering 8 hits while striking out 8, and worked out of several jams. Offensively, Ken Marks was 2-2 with 3 rbis, and Jimmy Suicide King and Kevin Locke hit back to back homeruns. Rick Alcorn and Gary Keil also had 2 hits each. Steve Wolf and Bill Carlezon had 3 hits each, and Sean Cassidy homered for the Red Sox |

The game was a scorless pitchers' duel between Acton's Charlie Tinschert and Boston's Gregg Meyer until Dave Mayo hit an RBI triple in the bottom of the sixth for Acton. The Townies battled back to tie in the top of the seventh on a single, walk, sacrifice bunt and sacrifice fly.
Reed Wilbur led off the last of the seventh with a base hit and went to third on a hit-and-run single by Bill Rhodes. Tinschert then drove in the winning run with a clean hit to left-center. |

Homestead Gray Sox 6, Metro Red Sox 5
Tony Catalano stole home, with what proved to be the winning run, in the bottom of the sixth as Homestead dropped Metro 6-5 to take a 1-0 lead in the first round of the play-offs.
Sean O'Connor and Bill Carlezon hooked up in a well pitched game with O'Connor prevailing, allowing only one earned run while striking out eleven.
Rick Alcor, 3 for 3, 2 runs, 2 stolen bases, and Tony Catalano, 2 runs, one RBI, 3 stolen bases, led the Gray Sox offense.
Steve Wolf had two hits and scored twice for the Red Sox. |
