Grossman punches its playoff ticket, eeking out a win against a depleted but pesky Braves squad.

Seth Stephenson and Alex Cappitelli paced the offense; Stephenson, batting leadoff, had 3 hits and a walk, while Cappitelli drove in 3 from the 2-hole.

While the Braves put up a great fight throughout and had the tying run at 2nd in the bottom of the 7th inning, the Grossman bullpen was able to close the door. There were some bumps along the way, but Mike Musto and Eric Gage recorded the final 6 outs via K to seal the W.

Palmer keeps the streak going. Tony Trafecanty threw a complete game scattering 4 hits and 3 runs over 7 innings. The strong performance gave the Palmer bullpen a much needed night off. Palmer was able to muster up enough offense in this one and really capitalized in the second inning. Under immense pressure with the bases loaded, 2 outs, a roaring Fallon crowd, and even his alleged "GF" in attendance Chris Hoyt was able to do something he's never done before. Hit a ball over an outfielders head. Hoyt lined a ball over the center fielders head in shallow center field and it was off to the races. Hoyt galloped like a gazelle running for its life across the bases and slid into home with ease. Hoyt was 2-4 on the night.
Another note Hoyt is one hit shy of the illustrious 300 career hit mark. Unfortunately he was too gassed from running the bases earlier to put up good at bats later in the game. The quest to 300 continues.

Gage went the first five innings, allowing 3 hits while striking out 11.

Retsyn Ootton, Alex Cappitelli and Kristyan Puyol-Genossar each drove in a pair or runs in the win.

The bullpen did a nice job in relief of Colin Stephenson, working out of jams and keeping things tied. The Law Firm of Musto & Musto threw a pair of scoreless innings in the 5th and 6th, and then Dylan McNary pitched a scoreless 7th, wiggling out of a based-loaded, one-out jam through a shallow fly ball and a clutch K.

RHP Colin Stephenson and newcomer LHP James O'Connor helped Grossman start the week off on the right foot, taking turns between RF and the mound and keeping the Braves hitters off balance just enough to earn the W.

O'Connor, making his Park League debut, also made a fantastic defensive play in RF, throwing a strike to the plate to gun down a runner trying to score on a single. Stephenson, meanwhile, helped the cause at the plate with a pair of hits, including a run-scoring double.

The other star of the night was LF Shane McNamara (2-3, BB, 3B, 2R, 2RBI) who crushed a ball to deep left center to drive in a pair in the 3rd inning. And on defense, with the tying run at the plate in the 7th, he made a fabulous running catch down the LF line to steal a hit away and preserve the lead.

Grossman gets back in the win column, emerging victorius in a high-quality scoreless pitchers duel that ended with a walkoff in the bottom of the 7th-- the only run of the game.

Grossman's Eric Gage (14K) and ADSL's Brandon Sullivan (7K) both went the distance, working out of a number of jams to strand 8 baserunners apiece.

In the bottom of the 7th, Conor Evers (1-2,2BB) drew a one-out walk, which was followed by a Dylan McNary (1-2,2B,2BB) walk and a single by Chris Deane(1-4). With the bases loaded, Shane McNamara (0-2,BB,SF,GWRBI) then strode to the plate and hit a fly ball to centerfield. Evers came scrambling home on the catch, dancing around the catcher to touch the plate and end a well-played game by both sides.

Palmer Club came out swinging and cruised their way to a victory. Palmer rookie sensation Yohandry Perez tossed 3 innings and struck out 9 of the 10 batters he faced. On the offensive side of the ball, Palmer scored 2 quick runs in the 1st inning and added 4 more in the second. Sparkplug Chris Hoyt and Jim "Flash" Perron both scored runs in the 1st and 2nd inning. Big hits came off the bats of WPI alumns Steve Gallagher and Davey "Crockett" Larson. Gallagher had a double to deep center that drove in a run in the 1st. Unfortunately the long run to second base caused an injury that forced him out of the game. Larson was the next man up. Larson had a double in the second that drove in a run and he played a solid first base for the remainder of the game. Jim Perron managed to scrape together 3 hits on the night and also drove in 2. In the 4th Pat Carbone took over on the mound and finished the game for the Palmer Club.
