Cubs fought hard, great pitching through 6 innings by Jamie Waters. Big Thunder rally in the 6th with 2 outs to put it away. Triples in the inning by Mike Rose and Gregg Bromley did the major damage; also 10 consecutive Thunder batters reached base after 2 were out. Frank Marr hit a monster home run in the right field gap in the 3rd. Dave Patnaude gets the win with 2 perfect innings of relief; Jon Story pitched well through 5. LaPiara and Burton had triples for the Cubs. |

WP MESSOM 2-3 LP WATERS
Terrific performance by Arlington captain
and winning pitcher Adam Messom. Complete game on the hill , recording 13 outs before allowing a hit. He struck out 9 and allowed 0 earned runs.
Overall Arlington played great defense behind him
despite making the 4 errors, highlighted by the play of second baseman Paul D'Agostino assisting on 6 outs and recording 2 putouts w/o an error.
The offense threatened early and often but could not get on the board until the 5 th, where they put up a 6 spot. Messom scored 2 runs, Curtis knocked in a pair with a pair of hits. Overall great team victory putting the team back in the playoff race. |

N. Andover Thunder 5, Cambridge Cubs 3
Well played game on both sides. The Thunder jumped to a 1-0 lead taking advantage of 2 walks and an RBI single by Ted Maravelias. The Cubs tied in the bottom of the 2nd taking advantage of consecutive singles by Elsmore and Doucette and a passed ball.
The Thunder went ahead to stay in the 4th on a double by Paul Laurin, a walk to Maravelias, a single by Gregg Bromley, and then Maravelias came home on Bromley's attempted steal of 2nd. The Cubs got 1 in the 6th on hits by Settles and Roddenberry, and 1 in the 8th on singles by LaPianta and Cimento. But more Thunder runs came in the 6th - bases loaded walk to Ed Macmillan - and the 7th on an RBI single by Dave Brown, gave the Thunder the 5-3 win.
Mike Johnson pitched 4 for the Thunder, giving up 1 unearned run, striking out 6, walking 0 and giving up only 3 hits. Todd Thompson took over and finished with 5 solid innings for the win in his first pitching appearance (2 runs, 5 h |
