Giants win on the back of a strong effort by Dan Shanahan. Shanahan went the distance allowing only one hit in the win. The offence was led by Mike Byrne who was 2-4, 2B, 2RBI. Dan Shanahan also chipped in with a hit and a run scored to help himself. Steve Corda while having only one hit managed to get on base 4 times and score twice.

Shanahan puts in another strong effort, Byrne led the way with the stick and Corda showed how to get on base.

A big 4th inning for the Royals made a winner of Ariel Martinez who pitched strong again through 5 innings (5IP, 5H, 2ER, 1BB, 4K). After some wild relief, Jay Lewis closed the door on the Astros by coming in with the bases loaded and 0 outs in the 7th and striking out the 1st 3 batters he faced.

Lewis (2 for 4) and Andrew Marenghi (2 for 4, 2R) had multi-hit games for the Royals. Felix Villalobos, Mike Malin and Drew Kowalevicz all had 2RBI singles in the big 4th inning to break open a close game.

For the Asros, Tim Clark went 2 for 2 with a 3B, 2 BB, 2 RBI, and a run scored. Kevin Gorman went 2 for 3 with a 2B and 2 RBI on the day. Gary DiPerna went the distance for the 'Stros.

Tyler Walsh tossed a complete game two-hit shutout to pace the Astros to a 6-0 victory over the Cubs in a morning duel at East Boston Stadium.
The game was played very well defensively by both sides.
Mike Vernon (2-for-4, R, RBI) knocked a first inning double which scored Walsh for the game-winner. "Trot" also turned a big unassisted double play from shortstop in the fourth.
Cory Edgar showcased a solid glove in center and plated Josh "D-Lowe" Vernon (1-for-2, 2R, 2SB) in the fifth for the Astros second run.
The Astros got another in the sixth on a base hit by Mike Vernon, a well-placed groundout by Dan Schumaker and an RBI single by Kevin Gorman.
Walsh added a two-run double in the seventh to extend the lead to six after Josh Vernon had walked, stole second and third, and scored when the ball got passed the third baseman.
Mark Andolina pitched well going the distance for the Cubs, but took the hard luck loss.

T-Dubb, Trot and D-Lowe either scored or drove in all six runs. Walsh records first Astros shutout in a really long time.

The Astros (4-18) clipped the Mariners (5-14) by the score of 4-3 at East Boston Stadium to earn a split in the season series.
Gary Diperna spun a complete game gem to earn the win for the Astros. Diperna (7IP, 6H, 3R, 3ER, 2BB, 7K) dominated down the stretch and stranded Mariners at third three times. Alan Donaruma pitched well, but took the loss for the M's.
Tony "Mr. August" Ricupero was the star at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with a run and an RBI. Corey "left eye" Edgar went 2-for-3 with a run scored.
With the game tied at three, Kevin Gorman drew a one out walk, reached third on an error and scored the game-winning run on Ricupero's two-strike single.

The Astros (3-17) overcame eight errors to clip the Marlins (8-10) at Cleveland Circle 11-10.
Down 10-6 heading into the last inning, the 'stros crossed the plate five times with two outs. Dan Schumaker started the scoring with a three-run double, Jeff Roy walked, Tim Clark singled sharply, and Kevin Gorman (2H, R, RBI), reached base for the fourth time with a HBP to drive in the tying run. Owen Devine's infield hit drove in Clark for the winning run. Clark (2-for-3, BB, 2R) was playing his first game of the season after a 19-game stint on the DL.
Tyler Walsh threw all seven innings to earn the complete game victory. He allowed ten runs, three earned, ten hits, four walks and three K's. Neil Doherty took the loss for the Marlins.
Chris Ryan belted a three-run home run in the third to bring the Marlins within one. Josh Misiph was stranded at third after a lead-off triple in the seventh.

Schumaker 3RBI and solid at third, Walsh notches first career win in MABL, Devine drives in the game winner.

The Orioles outlasted the Astros at beautiful West Roxbury High School.

Cole Barton pitched 5 innings to pick up the win for the O's. Chris Arenda worked the last two frames for the save. Mike Vernon picked up the loss for the Astros.

The Orioles offense was led by Shaun Stack (1-3, 2B, 1R, SB), Dan Gomes (0-0, 2BB, 2R, SB, SF), Al Cacciatore (1-3, 2B, RBI) and Larry Charbonneau (1-2, 2B, 1R, 2RBI).

The Astros' stars were Chris Ioakimidis (2-2, 1R, 2RBI, 2BB, SB) and Tyler Walsh (5IP, 4H, 2ER, 2BB, 2K and an RBI single at the plate)

Gomes and Charbonneau help spark the O's offense. Ioakimidis perfect at the plate.

Conor Giard picked up his 1st MABL win going 5 innings, srtiking out 7, and allowing 2ER. But the highlight of the game was the appearance of Gary Moran who came in to pitch the final inning and SO 2. Offensively, Mike Close (4RBI, 2B, 2B) and Gary Moran (3-1B) each collected 3 hits. Kyle Philson and Geoff Sylvester each had 2 hits.

The Astros scored 3 runs in the first on 2 hits to take the early lead. J. Vernon picthed a complete game to take the loss.

For the second game in a row, the White Sox scored double-digit runs, as this time they took the Astros for their 4th straight win.

John Howe pitched a strong 6 innings for the Sox, allowing only 3 scattered hits and 1 ER with 8 K's for the win. Mike Lembo pitched a perfect 7th inning to wrap up the game.

The Astros struck first in the 2nd inning when Mike Vernon reached on error, stole second, and scored on another error. But the Sox quickly came back and scored 5 in the bottom of the frame with the help of 3 errors and singles by Dan Field, Brett Rudy, Eamonn McDonough and Mike Lembo. From that point forward, there was no looking back.

On the day, Brett Rudy (2 for 2, sac fly, 3 RBI) & Eamonn McDonough (2 for 2, 1 BB, 2 R) had perfect days at the plate. Mike Lembo also had a pair of hits with 2 RBI.

The other Astros run came when Dan Schumaker blasted a triple in the 3rd and was driven in by a Shu Susaki single.

John Howe improves to 3-1; Brett Rudy & Eamonn McDonough are perfect at the plate.

The Indians beat the Astros 5-0 behind the strong pitching of Jason DeVeau.

DeVeau pitched six innings, allowing no runs while striking out 13 'stros and giving up just three hits. Daryl Pina closed with a scoreless seventh.

Nick Bondola led the Tribe at the plate, going 3-4 with a double and 3 runs scored. Marco Abreu went 2-3 with two doubles, and Pina also added 2 hits and 3 RBI's.

For the Astros, Ricupero picked up two of his team's hits from the leadoff spot.

DeVeau strikes out 13 in six, Pina and Bondo picked things up at the plate.

The Yanks punched out 14 hits in a 15-1 win over the Astros. Todd Steffanides (4-6, 3 doubles, 3 RBI). Frank Kowalski (2-2, HR, 2RBI), Jamie Matthews (3-4 2 RBI) and Jeff Coveney (3-4, double, 3 RBI) led the Yanks attack.

On the hill in his 1st rehab start, Bryan Gauvin pitched 2 innings allowing 1 hit while striking out 5. Jamie Matthews earned the win pitching 3 innings in relief. Matthews has not allowed an earned run this season over 16 innings. Ned Coffee closed it out with 2 innings of 1-run ball.

For the Astros, Kevin Gorman knocked home the only Astros run with an RBI single in the 7th.

Leland Boutilier belted a HR over the RFs head in the 1st inning to lead things off for the Rockies. Boots ended the day with 3 hits and made 2 diving catches in the OF to help Brian Cooper pick up the win. Cooper pitched a complete game giving up only 1 uneraned run and holding the Astros to 7 hits. At the plate, Cooper also went 2-4 on the day, scoring 2 runs. The Rockies combined for 12 hits to help bring their record back to .500.

For the Astros, they scattered 7 hits, with Mike Vernon scoring in the 7th inning to break up the shoutout. Tyler Walsh pitched a scoreless 7th inning.

In a crisply played game in East Boston, All-Star Bill Beauchesne (4-0, 0.48) picked up the first shutout of his 4-year Boston MABL career. Beauchesne scattered 7 singles and walked 3 with 8 strikeouts. All-Star Kit Kadlec and Greg Cote combined to throw out Tyler Walsh at the plate on the game's final play to preserve the shutout.

The Mets jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the 1st on an RBI double by Cote, who tied teammate (and All-Star) Dave McManus and Gary Moran of the Rockies for the league RBI lead with 9, and a sac fly by Kadlec. Kadlec also drove in the Mets' 3rd run in the 3rd. All-Star Jason Joyce keyed both Mets rallies, scoring twice and stealing 3 bases-- 1 each after 2 hits and a walk.

For the Astros, Josh Vernon pitched well in defeat, allowing just 4 hits and 2 walks over 5 innings. Vinay Chakravarthy tossed 2 hitless innings in relief. Dan Schumaker had 2 hits for the 'Stros.

In a rain shortened game at Ryan Field on Friday night the Astros came back from a 7-0 first inning deficit to beat the Reds 10-7.

Josh Vernon went the distance to get the win for the 'stros. He allowed only one base-runner and no hits after the first inning. He also stole two bases and scored a run.

Mike Vernon had a break-out game at the plate going 2-for-3 with a double, a run scored, and an RBI. In the third inning, Corey Edgar hit a monstrous triple to drive in Mike Vernon and Kevin Gorman. Mark Thibeault was 1-for-2 with an RBI and two runs scored.

The entire Reds line-up reached base in the first as they exploded for seven runs on five hits.

The Vernon brothers, Josh and Mike were instrumental in the Astros comeback victory

The Astros recorded their first win of the season today by beating the Indians 6-3 at East Boston Stadium.

Mike Vernon threw a complete game two hitter to earn the win. He struck out seven (including the last two batters of the game) and walked only two. Only one of the Indians three runs was earned.

Tony Ricupero broke the game open in the fourth with a bases loaded single that drove in Cory Edgar and Kevin Gorman. Coop also walked and scored the Astros first run of the morning. Chris Ioakimidis and Tyler Walsh each drove in a run.

For the Indians, Nick Bondola went 1-3 with an RBI and Mike Everett was 1-3 with a run scored.

The Orioles jumped out early and held on to defeat the Astros in a wild game at Ryan Field featuring pickoffs, double plays and a dozen errors between the two teams.

Dan Gomes (2 hits, 2 runs, 1 SB), Jay Thomas (1 for 2, 2B, 2 runs, 2 BB)and Chris Roupa (1 for 2, 1 run, 1 RBI, 2 BB) led the Oriole offense. Chris Demers went the distance to pick up his first MABL victory, giving up 3 ER and striking out 7.

Daniel Schumaker (2 hits, 1 RBI) and Tony Ricupero (1 hit, 2 runs, HBP) paced the Astro attack.

The D'Backs won their 3rd straight to go to 3-0 on the season.

Aaron Bend singled Tommy Bligh home in the 1st after Bligh walked. The Astros got 2 in the 3rd after Cory Edgar hit a shot to left field scoring Anthony DeLuise. Edgar scored shortly thereafter on an errant throw. The D'Backs batted around in the 4th scoring 10. Highlights include 2 hits by Bill Schellbach who had a big/expensive day going 3-3 and breaking 2 bats. Joe Rockers crushed a 3 run double scoring Schellbach, Mike McGoohan, and Chris Buckley. Sam Price delivered a RBI single scoring Rockers and Rich Antash knocked Nick Reiser home. Bend tacked on 2 more runs by driving Antash and Bligh home. In the 5th the D'Backs added one more run when Buckley scored his second run of the day.

Kevin McGovern pitched 5 innings of 2 hit ball striking out 4 for the victory. Aaron Bend closed things out with 2 inning of hitless ball striking out 3.

Bligh went 1-1 w/ 3 BBs, 2 R, and 1 SB. Schellbach went 3-3 w/ 1 R. McGovern got the win allowing just 2 hits.

Bill Beauchesne, Tim Fortune and Kit Kadlec combined on a one-hitter as the Mets opened the season with a 4-0 win over the Astros. Beauchesne allowed only an infield single in 5 innings, walking 1 and striking out 5. Kadlec gave the Mets an early lead in the 2nd when he reached on a bunt single, moved to second on a wild pitch, stole third and scored on Brian Rochette's single to center. In the 3rd, the Mets took advantage of Mike Vernon's wildness to put up a 3-spot on RBI walks by Al Becker and Greg Cote and an RBI grounder by Kadlec. For the Astros, Brian Dunton was outstanding in relief, tossing 3.2 hitless innings with 3 strikeouts.

Beauchesne allowed only 1 hit; Kadlec scored a run, drove in a run and closed it out on the mound.
