It was a long day of baseball yesterday for the Royals. First up was a continuation of a suspended game that started back on June 6th. The Royals and Cubs were tied going into the 8th inning when the game was called due to light curfew. Fast forward almost two months and the game continued Sunday morning in Weymouth. Brian Burke took over on the hill for the Royals and Tom McDonald took the ball for the Cubs. It was expected that it would be a quick conclusion either way but the two pitchers battled back and forth for 6 more innings of scoreless baseball. And in the bottom of the 13th inning, Burke delivered yet another walk off single giving the Royals a 7-6 win. That made two walk off's for Burke this weekend with the first one coming Friday night against the Mariners. |
