The Bay State Pirates held on to beat the Weymouth Black Sox to keep their slim playoff hopes alive. Paul Aseltine was stellar on the mound, yet his defense almost let the game slip away in the fifth with 5 unearned runs.

Todd Elkin had a big pinch hit RBI single to tie the game in the 6th, and Dan Brookfield plated the go ahead run with an RBI single in the 8th for the extra inning win.

Boston Braves built a four-run lead in the fourth inning and then held off Bay State Pirates's charge for a 5-4 victory on Sunday.

Bay State Pirates scored three runs in the failed comeback on a groundout by Moynihan and a double by Lucia.

Bay State Pirates scored three runs in the sixth inning, but Boston Braves still managed to pull out the victory. The big inning for Bay State Pirates came thanks to a groundout by Moynihan and a double by Lucia.

Boston Braves got things started in the first inning. Harrison Bonner drove in two when he singled.

After a power outage Thursday night, the bats got back to being hot on a hot afternoon in Dedham. Chris Holland, Adam Simpson, Zach Simpson, and Cam Deegan all contributed three hits and Jon Lawlor had two of his own. Jake Marchesseault got his second win of the season, going 4.2 innings. Adam Simpson and Mike Sjolin preserved the big lead by combining for 2.1 innings of scoreless relief.

The Bay State Pirates faced off against the Metro Gators in beautiful Lowell Massachusetts. Offense was at a premium early in this game as The Bucs' Matt Lucia battled against the Gators' Dan Poirier.

The Gators struck first with a 2 run dinger for Bryan Watkins after a terrific lengthy at bat by the Gators shortstop. The Pirates had no answers for Poirier early as he held the bucs to one infield hit until the 6th inning when the wheels fell off. The big blows came on a Tyler Jackson RBI double and a go ahead RBI single by Todd Elkin.

Rookie Matt Lucia rolled through the end of the game on the mound, limiting a tough Gators offense to 5 hits total on the day to take the win by a final score of 4-2. He was aided by three Pirates double plays - a season high.

After losing a tough one in Game 1, the Royals bounced back in Game 2 to beat the Pirates by a score of 9-3. Starter Matt Bui gave up 3 runs (2 earned) on 6 hits over 5 innings of work to pick up his fourth win of the season. Mike Ahearn, James O'Neil, AJ King, and Phil Perez all picked up multiple hits on the day and Brian Burke hit his first career homerun with a solo shot in the 5th inning.

The Bay State Pirates got out to an early lead over the Royals in Game 1 of the doubleheader. However, the Royals mounted a big comeback to take the lead in the 5th when they plated 5 runs, capped by a 3-run homer by James O'Neil. The Pirates appeared to turn an inning ending double play just moments earlier, but the ump questionably called the Bucs first basemen off the bag.

The Bucs bounced right back in the top of the 6th, plating 4 runs off of Royals closer Eddie Lockhart. Paul Aseltine ran into more trouble on the mound in the 6th, but was relieved by rookie Matt Lucia who got out of the jam and went on to pitch a scoreless 7th inning to secure a Pirates win.

The Bucs pounded out 15 hits with doubles by Andy Burkett, Jory Curran, Todd Elkin, Dan Brookfield and Nate Fishman. Tyler Jackson also chipped in with a great line, going 4 for 4 with 3 RBI, 3 runs and a stolen base.

The Pirates won Game 1 of the doubleheader with a couple clutch 2-out hits in the sixth. Nick Packard came through with a rocket ground rule double down the left field line, and Dan Brookfield followed it up with a clutch 2 run single up the middle.

Rookie Matt Lucia battled on the mound all day for the home team, picking up the complete game win tallying 5 strikeouts and 3 earned runs.

Nate Fishman continued to swing a hot bat for the Bucs, going 2 for 4 with an RBI double and a stolen base. Will Weir had a stellar game for the visiting Mariners, tallying 3 hits 3 steals and 2 runs in the losing effort.

The Pirates bounced back in Game 2 of the doubleheader with a decisive victory. Tyler Jackson was the star, going 2-3 including a tall 2 run homer in the third inning. Jory Curran also chipped in with 3 hits including an RBI double, Nate Fishman went 2 for 4 with a double and Dillon Search Wells also pitched in from the 10-hole (power bottom) with 2 hits.

David Short settled down after a rough start on the mound for the win, while rookie Matt Lucia closed the door in the 5th,6th & 7th innings for the save - retiring 9 of 10 batters including 3 strikeouts.

The Cubs improved to 6-0 on the season with an 8-3 victory against the Pirates.

The Pirates took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the second before the Cubs put them away for good in the bottom of the frame. The Cubs put up 6 six runs in the inning, highlighted by a 3-run triple from catcher Cory Albanese.

Matt Nicholson (2-3, 2B), Kevin Johnson (2-3), and Kiyo Gomi (2-3)all recorded multi hit games.

Tom McDonald got his second win of the season going 5 innings, giving up 3 runs while striking out 6. Paul Fahey picked up the 2-inning save.

The Royals squeaked by the Bay State Pirates in extra innings. Phil Perez put the Royals ahead 2-1 with an RBI single in the top of the 8th inning but the Royals gave a run back to the Pirates in the bottom of the frame. In the top of the 9th, Dominic Coviello drove in AJ King to put the Royals on top for good. Cormac Sullivan pitched a 1-2-3 inning in the 9th to pick up the save.

The Pirates got a full team effort to down the Dodgers 7-1 on a chilly cloudy morning in Newton. The Pirates bats woke up early in support of starter Paul Aseltine. Nate Fishman, Todd Elkin, Andy Burkett, Francisco Estrella and Jory Curran all led the way - each picking up two hits each. New Pirate pickups Matt Lucia and David Short slammed the door - each pitched perfect innings in the 6th and 7th to hand Aseltine his second win in as many starts.

Paul Aseltine made his 13th consecutive opening day start for the Pirates - and once again he delivered. After giving up 2 bleeding hits through the infield in the 2nd inning, he retired 15 in a row before issuing his only walk in the 7th. He also struck out 6 batters. He was aided by some picture perfect infield defense and allowed one ball hit into the outfield all day.

In a day of quiet bats on both sides, Andy Burkett scored two Pirates runs while Brian Benulis scored one of his own when he came around to score from 2nd on a wild pitch.
