North Shore Giants 14, Weymouth Cubs 1
Giants and Cubs got a surprise gift to play at Fraser Field on Sunday.
Mark Infurna (1-2) gets his first win of the year off of the torrid bats of the Giants who put up 14 through a shortened, 5 inning game.
Lot of mentionable stats produced by essentially the entire Giants lineup with XBH peppered throughout.
Giants finally look like the Giants of old coming out of their hit slump putting up an astounding 24-3 run differential over their last two games. Pitching has been solid all year and the bats have seemed to arrive -- Giants look like they finally have everything going and it's back to Lawrence to take on the Red Tide Friday night. |

Norfolk County Mariners 5, Weymouth Cubs 4
LAWRENCE - For the Mariners, "home" never felt so awful. Just a hop, skip, & a jump away from where most of them went to high school in Wrentham (and sadly enough, where many of them still live with their parents) the Mariners arrived at Mt. Vernon Park after an exhausting 80 minute journey. The M's made themselves at home in the first inning, highlighted by a titanic 2 run double off the bat of old friend Alec Palioca (3-3,2B,2RBI,R,SB) who casually vomited after reaching 2nd. Billy Hunt was an unsung hero for the Mariners, dropping a sac bunt that led to a run in the 2nd & collecting an RBI single in the 4th. Hunts extra focus & determination Friday likely stemmed from guilt over choosing to attend his niece's dance recital rather than attend the Mariner's Giants playoff rematch Sunday. The Cubs inched closer against starter Chris Horne, but in the end came up just short. M's win 5-4 & improve to 6-1 on the season. |

In Aaron Jamal's first start of his CABL career, he carved up the Cubs batters at a tune of 1 hit and 3 walks over 5 innings. Unlike the Braves of 2016, the bats came alive early an often as every starter reached base and none recorded a strike out. The leader of the offense was Dan Cottrell who recorded 3 hits in hit first 3 CABL at-bats on the way to a 3-4 day with a double and 3 RBIs |
