Jeff Polinski supplied a majority of the Phillies offense in this one with two hits, a walk, three stolen bases and a run driven in. Most of the team assumes that he blew his load in this one and will be a relative no-show for the rest of the year. Also contributing to the victory were Shawn Walker and Erick Parent combining for all 9 innings and only two runs allowed. The big stick of the day came from Tony Maglione who hit a mammoth 400 foot opposite field home run which was good for just one RBI since Erik DiGuilio was not on base very much in this one, but caught a hell of a game. Not one stolen base allowed... (Not one stolen base attempt either. Perhaps word is out around the league of the hose on that stud.)

Tony Maglione was the hero of this one, pitching all 9 innings while surrending just one run. He kept the Phillies in the game into extra innings long enough to get to Erick Parent's walk-off single in the bottom of the 9th inning. Clearly the Phillies missed the heart and soul of the offense who departed after Game 1 for feminine activities in Vermont. The Phillies moved to 6-2* on the season with their only two blemishes due to half of their team playing patty-cake in the woods somewhere and having to postpone their double-header with the Mets... The good money says those 2 losses will turn into 2 wins soon enough.

Erick Parent lost his no-hit bid on the last out of the game on a flair single to right field just out of the reach of both the gold glove second baseman and the right fielder. He finished with a complete game, 8 K performance and allowed just one unearned run when Erik DiGuilio threw up all over a double play ball at 3rd base and managed to record 2 errors on the play. Erick Parent was however overshadowed by fellow Phillie, Jeff Polinski, who was elevated to the leadoff spot with Stephen Rosenlund absent for the week. Despite the Phillies scoring 11 runs in just 6 innings, Jeff still managed to go 0 for 4 with no walks, no runs scored and never reached base. Even Tiffani couldn't help him out this week with magic book-work.

Mike Escolas led the Phillies' offensive breakout with his first home run of the season in the 4th inning as the Phillies won their 4th game of the season. The Mariners started to chip away at their lead late in the game abusing Phillies' catcher Mike Carbonneau (in front of his son, no less) stealing multiple bases in the late innings. In Carbs' defense, nobody was holding the runners on and nobody was covering the bases but that didn't stop the Mariners from running up their stolen base stats for their team page. In other news, Jeff Polinski went 2 for 5 with 2 RBI.

After a nightmare 1st inning for an unnamed Phillies pitcher resulted in 5 runs they battled back to force extras. The Braves had 2 opportunities at the plate to walk-off victorious. The first was spoiled in the Bot 9th by the tandem of Jeff Polinski and gold-glove 3B Shawn Walker on a relay to prevent a game winning sac fly. The Braves again had a runner on 3rd in the Bot 10th but this time decided to attempt to steal home while the pitcher was standing on the mound holding the ball. Bold strategy, Cotton... Didn't quite work out. The throw to home beat the runner by about 45 feet but that didn't stop him from pulling his best A-Rod impression and trying to break the play up in his best feminine fashion. The Phillies would strike in the top half of the next inning after a leadoff walk came around to score. Tony Maglione got the W with 2 shutout innings of relief after Robo-Arm Jay Skowronski threw 8.2 innings of top shelf relief.

Another monster showing from the early front-runner for 2016 Phillies MVP, Jeff Polinski. He went a solid 0 for 3 at the plate as Tiffani drops a surprising E-6 on him in the first inning... His real time to shine came in the bottom of the 7th as the team was looking for a walk-off victory. Shawn Walker reaches base on one-out single and as the coach calls Jeff's # to pinch run he finds that Jeff is too busy pullin' it somewhere in the Algonquin woods and Tony Maglione had to be called upon to swipe second and score on Stephen Rosenlund's single through the left side... Game ball goes to Erick Parent for a complete game effort and his second W in as many weeks as he moved the Phillies to 2-0 on the season.
