The Cambridge Cantabs evened the season series with the Newton Red Sox in come-from-behind fashion, scoring in the later innings to upend the Sox, 4-3. After surrendering 3 runs to the vaunted Sox offense in the early going, the Cantabs' Matt Coyne (3-1) settled down to get the win. Nate Knowles (save) came on in relief of Coyne to nail down the victory.

Offensively, Cambridge's Elliot Shea had 2 doubles and 6 other Cantabs had at least 1 hit. The Red Sox cranked out 11 hits, led by Yulkin German (3 hits) and Dan Montero (2 hits).

In the first matchup between the Cantabs and Nationals on opening day, it was the ‘Tabs who walked away with a 4-0 victory. The second meeting between these teams was a doozy that saw Cambridge stake an early lead only to see it evaporate thanks in large part to back-to-back solo homeruns from the Nationals’ Ryan Bere and Jay Thomas. The Cantabs answered right back with a run in the following inning and added two more in the 9th on the way to a 6-3 win.

This was a great game at the ever-unpredictable Iacono Playground. The solo shots from one-time 18+ Orioles Bere and Thomas were certainly highlight reel worthy, as were the multi-hit games from the Cantabs’ Ackerson, Skypeck, and Mothander. A big tip of the cap, too, to Cambridge’s Peter Kaes, who went the distance for the Cantabs in earning his first victory of the season.

The Cantabs and Nationals complete their regular season series on Wednesday June

The Cantabs' Joe Perna (3-0) cruised to his 3rd victory on the young season, going the distance and keeping the Chiefs off the scoreboard until the last frame. Perna, Jamie Aldoupolis, and Matt Coyne each had a multi-hit game to propel the 'Tabs to what was an even-keeled team win.

For the Chiefs, Minsoo Kim pitched well in defeat, and Wander Liriano (2 hits) cranked a bases clearing double in the bottom of the 7th to nearly bring the Chiefs all the way back from the brink.

Let's play 2! The second game of the doubleheader between the Cantabs and A's was a pitchers duel between the 'Tabs' Matt Coyne and the A's' Michael Borghi. Coyne (1-0), in his first start of 2016, was just a bit better in helping lead the way to a 3-0 shutout victory. Cantabs newcomer Matt Nuhfer also made his mound debut, combining with Coyne on the 2-hitter and picking up the save for his efforts.

Brockton's Borghi pitched well in defeat, limiting the Cantabs to only 4 hits.

On Opening Day, and in the first ever meeting between the Cambridge Cantabs and Watertown Nationals, the Cantabs emerged with a 4-0 shutout victory behind a solid complete game effort from Joe Perna (1-0). The offense was buoyed by Elliot Shea, Chris Plant, and Nate Knowles, each of whom chipped in 2 hits.
