It was open mic night at Town Field tonight, and Palmer brought the noise, winning a great pitching match-up that saw Trafecanty out-duel Desai. Trafecanty went 6 and 1/3 and allowed just 3 singles to pick up the W. Desai threw well for ADSL, going the distance and allowing just 5 hits in the contest. But unlike Game 1, Palmer received clutch hitting with runners on base to scratch 4 across on the tough lefty.

The Palmer offense was carried by Dorian Rojas (2-3, RBI) and Marvin Malaret (1-2, 2 RBI) early, and Jim Pierce drove home an insurance run in the 7th. Rojas led off the 4th with a bomb to left that went for a double. Malaret then launched a scud missile over the right center field wall to break a scoreless tie that put Palmer up 2-0. Palmer added a run in the 6th when Phelan reached on an infield single, stole 2nd, and scored on Rojas' 2nd hit after a lengthy at-bat resulting in a clean line drive to left center.

Game 1 of the BPL Championship turned in a classic playoff baseball pitcher's duel between Kyle Musco of Palmer and Josh Desai of ADSL. The first inning saw two of the three total runs in the game come across the plate, led by a leadoff triple by John Arens under the diving attempt of Chris Curran in centerfield. Palmer answered immediately in the bottom of the inning on Jim Pierce's double to right field scoring Curran who led off with a single and stolen base.

In the 3rd, ADSL scored again, with what ended up as the deciding run on Jared Blandino's single and stolen base, setting up a two-out RBI single by Frankie Tierney to give ADSL the 2-1 lead. Trafecanty saved his best performance of the year for the closeout game of the series. Tony went the distance for Palmer, throwing darts all night while limiting a solid hitting Towne Club to just 2 hits in the contest.

Foote went 1-2 with 3 RBIs and a BB on the night, showed off his baseball IQ with a delayed steal in the 2nd, and made a knee-skinning catch in left in the 5th, proving to his teammates he's willing to lay it all on the line for a chance at a 'ship. Foote capped off a 5-run 3rd inning for Palmer by launching a homer down the right field line that tore the chlorophyll right off the trees lining the field and Palmer never looked back.

Grossman chipped away with three runs in the 4th on RBI's by Carrera, Salvucci and Tenaglia. Eric Williams, in relief of Morgan Williams, came in and seemingly shut the door, striking out 4 of the first 6 batters he faced. But Grossman wasn't finished, scoring five runs in the 6th with the big hits by Malloy and Tom Wells who each had 2 RBI singles. That set the stage for the dramatic 7th.

Missing 5 guys from their lineup, including their fearless leader and reigning Manager of The Year JP Songin, Palmer pounded out 8 runs against a tough TJO team. Palmer had to rely on half the graduating class of 2005 from Brockton High School with 3 Brockton kids in their lineup including starting pitcher Joe Lucier. Lucier hit a bomb to left for a triple but advanced to home on an overthrow to 3rd. Another starting pitcher, Tony Trafecanty, played a solid 2B and has a modest 2-game hitting streak. The highlight of his 2-game show-and-go appearances was a hose he released in the 7th inning tonight...a seven hop seed to first that alluded the Palmer 1st baseman. Eric "The Beard" Williams shut down the TJO offense after giving up 3 runs in the 1st to earn the win. Jim Pierce had to use mapquest on the bases as he finally got some hits (3-4, 2B, 2 runs, 3 RBI). Matt Lipsett continued his hot hitting with 2 hits, 2 RBI, and great defense.

Trafecanty went 5 innings while allowing 6 runs, only 2 of which were earned, to get the win. It was a real gutsy win for Palmer as they climbed back to win 8-6. Cooper and Alexopoulos have been 2 of the hottest hitters on the planet this past week. Speed was on full display as Korchin beat the double play at 1st and Pierce threw the after burners on coming around 3rd base to score on a beautiful hook slide at home plate. After a slight delay waiting for the Kelly Field lights to be turned on, Morgan Williams threw 4 dominate and economical innings to earn the win for Palmer Club. Big brother, Eric Williams, shut down the last 3 innings without giving up a hit. to earn the save. Palmer was led offensively by Bobby Foote (1-for3, 2 RBI) and Frank Alexopoulos (2-for-3, RBI) driving in 3 runs in the 1st inning. Todd Korchin had a classic seeing eye pop up single in the 1st to finish the scoring in the game. Palmer, for the second consecutive game, played stellar defense to keep their opponent from generating much of a threat all night.

Towne, who had been falling victim to two-out, nobody on rallies in its early games, turns the table on Palmer and erupts for five runs after the first two batters grounded out to open the 6th off Morgan Williams. The big hits were Dana Dresser's two-out, tie-breaking single and Alex Venditti's two-run single that followed. It was seat-squirming time to the finish as Ed Bernstein nailed it down with two on by retiring two of the league's most dangerous hitters, Johnny Phelan and JP Songin.

Another great game between Palmer and TJO's which wasn't decided until the bottom of the 7th with a walk off single by Justin Nicklas to deliver the win for TJO's. Offense was led by Derek Reddy (2 for 4) and some outstanding defense by Ryan Connelly. Strong pitching from Gavin Petore, Sam Steeves and Jay Turner.

Joe Lucier hurled a solid 5 inning performance in his first start since his 2014 injury woes. He scattered 4 hits, giving up only 1 run. Palmer was led offensively by Matt Lipsett who got a rally started in the top of the 5th with a lead off double. Johnny Phelan made up for an atrocious base running blunder by doubling on a real puss shot to left center in the 5th. Palmer played tough defense as a couple wiley vets sacrificed their bodies. First, Todd Korchin unnecessarily dove for a line drive in left field and, later, Jim Pierce took one in the chin after a crazy hop off a missile 5 hop ground ball to 3rd. Kyle Ritchie cleaned up the last 2 innings to record his 1st save of the season. He did so while rocking one of the grossest 'staches in the League.

ADSL jumped out to an early 3-0 lead on the defending BPL champs but Palmer bats came alive in the home half of the 2nd, scoring 6 runs. Palmer showed a little bit of everything, reaching base via walks, infield hits, and a bases clearing double by JP Songin on a 3-2, 2 out, pitch. Palmer threw 4 pitchers throughout the game; Eric Williams, Pat "knee brace" Nicholson, Chris Anderson, and Tony Trefectany (sic). Palmer returned everyone from their 2014 championship run except for the formidable Joe Hock, whom will be sorely missed. Palmer added a couple bats onto their roster in Bobby Foote (no relation to Adam) and Todd Korchin, who comes back from Park League purgatory after a 11 year hiatus.
