Sudbury, Ma.- Royals pitcher James Greeley went the distance scattering 5 hits and 2 runs to help lead the Royals to a 2 game sweep of the Red Sox and advance to round 2 of the Metro West playoffs where they will meet the Framingham Orioles. Steve Robb (three hits) + Mike Feetham (3 RBI) led the offense for the Royals. The Red Sox Shawn Clapp hit a towering 2 run homer "out of Feeley" to account for their 2 runs.

The Cardinals thought they struck first in the 2nd inning. But an appeal play at third and a wild pitch catcher to pitcher play at the plate nullified a couple of early runs. The Royals then scratched one across in the 3rd to take the lead. The Royals scored 3 in the 4th to take a 4-0 lead. The Cardinals came back with 1 in the 6th and 2 in the 7th to cut the lead to 4-3 but could not muster any offense in the 8th and 9th.

The Sudbury Royals Open the season with a 16-4 win over the Marlborough Indians at Feeley Field. The trio on the mound of Dumas, Lankarge and Foundas held the Indians to just 4 runs (2 earned) while scattering only 5 hits. For the Royals, they had 11 hits including a couple from the newcomers: Juan Parra and Brian Schools. Veteran Stephen Robb added a pair of hits and Anthony Perry added 3 of his own in helping the Royals to the win.
