A's ADVANCE

The A's took Game 2 to advance to the semifinals.

The Orioles scored first when Souffrant, who had reached on a single, came around to score on a De Los Santos fielder's choice.

The A's struck back in the 2nd. Barton led off with a double and scored on a Krall base knock.

The A's then took the lead in the 4th. Vetter singled and scored on an error. Krall, too, singled and scored on an error. Billig thensingled home O'Keefe to give the A's a 4-1 lead.

That was all Breidenstine needed to get the victory. He tossed all 7, gave up just 5 hits, and struck out 10.

The A's advance to the semifinals. Congratulations to the Orioles on a great season.

A's TAKE GAME 1

The A's took Game 1 from the O's behind some timely hitting and the strong right arm of Brendan Huber. He finished with just one earned run over 5 hits, and he struck out 9 batters in the winning effort.

The O's struck first. Souffrant hit a leadoff triple, and later scored on a Bartlett single. The A's got a run back in the 2nd on a failed pickoff attempt. 1-1 after 2.

The Orioles took the lead again in the 5th. Derochea reached on an error. He rounded the bases and ultimately scored on a Rodriguez single.

The A's struck right back. Billig and Donaruma led off with singles. They scored on a Clarke single, which proved to be the winning RBIs. Clarke scored an insurance run on a Vadala walk. 4-2 A's after 5.

The A's tacked on some insurance in the 6th, plating 5 runs on a series of hits and defensive miscues. Huber then shut the O's down 1-2-3 in the 7th for the complete game victory.

O's wrap up the regular season with a walkoff win. Down 4-0 heading into the bottom of 6th, the O's clawed back to knot the game at 4 heading into the 7th. In the bottom of the 7th, with the score still tied, Leo Romero drew a walk, stole second, and was bunted over to 3rd. Jose De Los Santos completed the comeback with a gap shot that plated Romero and earned the Orioles the win.

After the Orioles jumped out to an early lead, the White Sox clawed back to tie the game with 2 runs in the top of the 6th inning. The O's responded in the bottom half of the 6th with 3 runs of their own, and then made them stand up in the 7th.

Newcomer Samuel Aquino picked up the W after Mike Bartlett pitched 5 solid innings with 6 K's.

Jon Shepard (5IP, 8K's) pitched well for the White Sox but took the loss.

SS Leo Romero (2B, HR, 3RBI) and 2B Andre Souffrant (2-4, 2R, 2RBI, 2SB) sparked the O's offense. SS Josh Valerio (2B, BB, 2RBI) led the White Sox attack.

A's OVER O's IN SLUGFEST

After the A's scored on a first-inning error, the O's tied it up on a passed ball.

The A's struck for 5 in the 3rd. With the bases loaded, Bo McIntyre ripped a double to score all 3. McIntyre scored on a throwing error. Then Brendan Huber then hit an RBI single to make it 6-1.

The A's got 6 more in the 4th on a series of walks. Buddha Asdornvuttikrai hit an RBI single during the rally.

The O's rallied for 3 in their half of the 4th, capitalizing on 4 straight hits to open the inning. The O's got 3 more runs in the 5th, again collecting 4 straight hits.

The game was then called for darkness.

For the A's, McIntyre went 2-3 with a double and 3 RBI. Huber was 3-4 with 2 RBI. Tessari was 2-3 with 2 RBI. Warren Asdornvuttikrai was 2-4. And Tom Vadala had a 2-RBI double.

For the O's, Bartlett, Cordero, and DeRochea each had a 2-3 day at the plate.

The Spinners found the win column in a big way with 15 hits and 12 runs in a rout of the Orioles. All nine players in the starting lineup scored at least one run, with Isaac Valvidiezo leading the way with three hits and two RBIs. Armando de Los Santos also drove in two runs.

Dan Blomerth pitched five innings, giving up one run while striking out four. Marty Clarke came on in relief to finish the job on the mound.

A's OVER O's IN THRILLER

Will Wilde tying run from left field with two outs in the 7th to preserve the 4-3 win for the A's.

The A's jumped out first. Warren Asdornvuttikrai hit a long triple to right-field to plate Andrew Billig and Bo McIntyre.

In the 2nd, Brendan Huber reached on an error. Dave Clarke then ripped a triple to right-center to plate Huber. In the 3rd, Alan Donaruma reached on a bunt single, and later scored on an Asdornvuttikrai single.

The O's battled back. In the 3rd, leadoff man Andre Souffrant hit a triple and scored on a Myles Comeau single. And in the 5th, Evan DeRochea plated Comeau, and one batter later, Cordero plated Chery Victoria.

But A's pitcher Jason Kurtz got out of the bases-loaded, fifth-inning jam with a clutch strikeout.

In the 7th, Comeausingled and stole second. Then Cordero hit a single to right. But Wilde fielded the ball and gunned it home to keep Comeau from scoring.

A's Clinch Playoff Spot with 4-0 win over O's

Brendan Huber was in complete control as he spins a 2-hit CG shutout at Breed JHS in Lynn. His line for the night: 0 R, 2 H, 4 BB, 7 K. He allowed no runners past second base all game.

The A's got on the board in the 3rd, when Jordan Krall drove in Tommy Vadala, who reached base on a BB. Nick Barton then drove in Will Wilde on a SAC fly to make it 2-0. Wilde had a 2-3 night at the plate.

The A's would get 2 more in the 6th. Donaruma reached on a single, and later scored on a Pat Vetter FC. Breidenstine would drive in Vetter with 2 outs to make it 4-0.

Leury Pegeuro threw 5 strong innings for the O's, giving up 2 ER while striking out 3 and inducing a DP in the 5th. It wouldn't be enough, though, as Huber was in control all night.

O's enjoy a walk off win. Down 2-0 in the 6th, Leo Romero and Mike Bartlett hit RBI triples to RF, and then Jose De Los Santos hit a sac fly to give the Orioles the lead.

But the White Sox fought back. Down to their final out, they tied the game on an RBI single.

The Orioles ultimately secured the game on an RBI single to center which plated Andre Souffrant.

Carlos Osorio earned the W out of the bullpen. Alex Weldon threw a complete game for the Sox.

Another tight game came down to a 6th inning rally, with the O's putting up 5 runs to overcome a 2-run deficit. As he did in Game 1, Myles Comeau drove in the tying and go-ahead runs with a clutch hit, this time a double.

Rob Nadel picked up a complete game W, scattering 7 hits while striking out 5.

For the game, Andre Souffrant and Evan Derochea chipped in with 2 RBI apiece for the Orioles, while Kevin Lopes added 2RBI for the Reds.

Down 4-3 heading into the bottom of the 6th, the O's bats came alive to plate 4. Myles Comeau had a 2-run single to put the Orioles on top; Evan Derochea and Carlos Solano followed with RBI singles to build the lead.

Leury Peguero (at the plate 2-2, 2R, SAC) came out of the O's bullpen to notch a W following a bizarre sprinkler delay in the top of the 5th.

For the Reds, Jason Baldeck reached base three times, and Jake Perkins had a pair of RBI.

The Spinners recorded their second consecutive shutout Saturday night with a 5-0 win over the Orioles. Luc Kocher pitched five scoreless innings, giving up two hits while striking out five. Marty Clarke finished the shutout with two strikeouts.

Bob "Bloopy Mac" Maccioli led the way with three hits and two RBIs. Omar Caceres drove in two runs and Isaac Valvidiezo doubled and scored a run.

The Orioles pick up the win with another late inning comeback. Michael Bartlett hit the decisive home run and Carlos Osorio records his second straight win with four shutout innings in relief.

For the Padres, Victor Jorge pitched six solid innings with 12 strikeouts and Marcos Reyes had a two run double.

O's pick up the win led by the all-around efforts of Evan Derochea and Mike Stasio. Derochea pitched the first 3 innings and then, moving to 3B, made the play of the game, snaring a liner and diving to tag 3rd to double off the runner and quell a Grays rally. Stasio picked up the save with 2 innings of scoreless ball, and also scored a pair of runs to support the offense. Jeff Derochea and Jose De Los Santos also chipped in with a pair of hits apiece.

The Dodgers and Orioles met at Lincoln Field for the second time in as many weeks. At the end of the seventh inning, the teams once again found themselves knotted at two runs apiece - the same score that took the squads to extra innings the prior Sunday. On offense, Ivan Torres led the Dodgers with two critical RBIs and by scoring the winning run on a Cahill sacrifice fly in the eighth after reaching base on a lead-off single. Drew Cumming made two game-saving highlight reel catches in right field for the Dodgers. At shortstop for the Orioles, Leo Romero reached base three times in four at bats and displayed some incredible defense of his own.

The bats were busy at South Lawrence East on Saturday, and when the dust cleared the Padres had a 16-8 win over the Orioles.

The biggest inning for the Padres was the second, scoring nine runs on an RBI single by Roberto Terrero, a two-run single by Marcos Reyes, an RBI single by Kenny Polanco, a two-run single by Luis Valdez, an RBI single by Yey Frias, an RBI single by Terrero, and an error.

Frias hit a two-run home run in bottom of the fouth inning and racked up four RBIs on three hits for the Padres.

Kenny Polanco had a great day at the plate going 4-for-4 and Luiz Valdez had another big day with 3 hits and 5 RBIs

The Padres easily handled the Orioles pitching as six hitters combined for 15 hits, 12 RBIs and 12 runs scored.

Carlos Osorio recorded the win for the Padres. He allowed four runs over five innings. Osorio struck out four, walked one and gave up six hits.

Leury Pequero took the loss for the Orioles.

Grays rally late, scoring 8 runs in the 6th to beat the Birds Sunday at Fallon. Bret Samboy lead the offensive attack for the Grays going 3-4 with a double and 2 ribi's. Anthony Mantone, Samboy, and Zac Stiffler had multiple hits. Tommy Plumitallo threw well, going the distance to pick up his 2nd CG Win of the season. Tommy allowed only 1 ER and striking out 9. Pena threw well for the Orioles striking out 11 through the first 5.

Cutters jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the 3rd higlighted by a Ryan Bere 2-run HR. The Os answered with a 3-run 6th to set the stage for the walkoff.
