Scott Haley, had a breakout performance, going 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs. Things looked bleak in swampland when opening day starter Ricky Garthe came off the hill limping after retiring the first 4 batters he faced, but big righty Greg Doucette stepped in and kept the Thunder hitless going into the 7th, supported by a stingy Gator defense led by Scott Michaud's diving heroics. Thunder veteran starter Joel Autry (CG) kept pace, keeping the Gators off the board through the first six. In the top of the 7th, the Gators bats broke out, with three runs on three hits to take a 3-0 lead into the bottom of the 7th. The Thunder showed fight in the bottom frame, putting two guys on with a BB and a bloop fly to break up the no-no, but with the tying run at the dish, Douce bared down and got a K to seal the Gators victory.
