Angel Claudio outshined Tony Catalano in a tremendous pitching duel to help the Twins take the best of three game series from a very potent Braves team. Paul Calvi's double scored Dave Patterson for the tying run and Kevin Macdermott's single scored Calvi for all the runs the Twins would need. Hoss Rupert manufactured an insurance run in the sixth by way of a walk, stolen base, where he took 3rd on an errant throw, and scored on a wild pitch. The Twins will now take on the Homestead Gray Sox, led by Kevin Locke, for the league championship.

Jeff Hubbard pitched a masterpiece as the Twins upset the Braves in the first game of a best of three series.Dave Patterson had a ringing double in the eight run 4th inning to break the game open for the winners.

Last season's 40+ League Champions, and this year's North Division Regular Season Champions, won the 2002 North Division play-off final with an 11-3 victory over the Metro Giants, taking the series two games to none.

The first four hitters for visiting Homestead singled. Two more singles in the top of the first produced a 4-0 Homestead advantage, before Metro went to the plate.

The Gray Sox' offense continued to produce (15 total hits), taking a 9-0 lead into the bottom of the 4th before the Giants tallied.

Kevin Locke went the distance on the mound for Homestead, allowing 3 runs (2 earned) on 8 hits with 9 strike outs. He also added three hits, two RBI's, scored thrice, and walked off with the "Amalie, better than it has to be" Player of the Game award.

Steve Wolf had a triple and single, scoring three times, while Rick Alcorn came home twice, garnering a double among his three hits.

Jim Mahoney singled, driving in Fred Delgrosso with one out in the bottom of the 7th, giving the Homestead Gray Sox a 9-8 victory over the Metro Giants in Game One of the North Division Finals.

Rich Figueroa pitched 2.2 innings of relief, striking out 5, for the win. He also scored two runs and had two hits, including a two run triple in the fifth which put Homestead ahead at the time. Steve Wolf reached base four times, scoring twice. Ted Maguire and Jim Mahoney each had two hits for the winners.

Steve Pecci had four hits for Metro.

Angel Claudio picked up the win to put the Twins up one game in this best of three series. Dave Patterson lead the Duxbury attack with two hits, three RBI and three runs scored. Great coaching job by Tony "Casey Stengal" LaGreca who manufactored many runs with great game calling. Jimmy Gratta hit a tremendous home run in the sixth inning to break the shoutout.

The Homestead Gray Sox eliminated the Watertown Cardinals from the first round 2 games to none with a 5-2 victory.

Garry Keil scattered 3 hits over 6 innings, allowing 1 earned run and Rich Figueroa pitched the 7th for the save, striking out three straight after loading the bases with none out.

Fred Delgrosso and Ted Maguire had run scoring triples in the Gray Sox 5 run 5th.

Watertown battled back from a 3-1 deficit by scoring 5 runs in the top of the 6th inning to eliminate Acton in a hard-fought elimination game.
Watertown ace was clearly not his usual self as he allowed 8 mostly solid hits including several when he was ahead in the count. He even emulated his 10-thumbed teammates by committing his first fielding error of the season.
At the plate, Carson ilgroom scored two runs and knocked in one with three hits while co-coach Josh Bellini plated two runs when he singled and walked with two outs in the second and fifth innings. Cocoach Winn Willard also had two sharp hits and an RBI while running on "watered-down" knees.
It was the first playoff win for the Watertown nine in their brief two years.....they'll begin a best of three series against Homestea on Friday night.
