After allowing 1 run in the first on an RBI single by Mark Moise, Phil Sartori pitched to only 1 over the minimum for the remaining 6 innings to lead CC over Somerville. Tribe picked up 2 in the 2nd on a Fred Bellows rbi single and a double steal. Sens snuffed out a bases loaded 3rd inning rally with a smooth 6-4-3 job. Key play of the game came in 6th however; after 2 infield errors and a sac bunt, the tying run was cut down at the plate on a 1-3-2 turn on a swinging bunt down the first base line. Steve Capozzi pitched well for Somerville scattering 6 hits while going the distance. |

Gregg Phieffer is the series MVP with a bases clearing triple in the fifth to erase a 3-2 deficit. Derek Levangie goes 8 for the win pitching out of numerous jams. Ralph Noblin, Les Weber and Jim Venuto with good days at the plate as well. The M's had their share of hits but the Indians had more and more when they counted. Brian Cassidy takes the loss for the M's,Marty Mason pitched well in relief. Paul Godino had a nice double in the 7th to lead off the inning, but Derek L. pitched out of it, just as he did all day long. Brockton's experience and steady play was the difference. Good luck to Chicky and the boys |
