Spinners nearly escaped, what seemed to be an early blowout, against a resilient Brewers team.

In the 1st the Spinners were able to plate 6 runs as Brewers pitching could not find the plate. After a pitching change the Spinners would make it 8-0 in the 2nd but that would be all the spinners could get across.

Brewers would score 2 in the 3rd on a throwing error. In the 5th with 2 outs they would score 5 unanswered runs on hits by seemingly everyone.

In the 7th, down by 1, the brewers 1st runner singled to right. That would end Mattina's night and D.Blomerth would enter in his old role of closer. After getting 2 quick pop outs he would strike out the next to secure the Spinners game 1 win.

Spinners 0 2 0 0 0 3 0 5 7 3
Tigers 3 0 0 0 0 1 0 4 4 3

Game 2 in Cambridge started off shaky for the Spinners. Taking an early lead, the Tigers scored 3 unearned runs in the 1st. Fighting back, Cambridge was able to cut the lead to 1 on a M.Tufo single and J.Tufo FC.

The game would stay quiet as Blomerth and Wlodarczyk were both pitching well. But in the 6th M.Navarro led the Spinners rally with a lead off single. After a Knell walk and D.Caceres sac bunt, Big Mahk Killoren would tie the game up. M.Tufo would put the Spinners ahead by 1 with an RBI single to LF. Pettit would keep the rally going, giving Cambridge their eventual winning run, roping a double to LF.

Tigers kept crawling back though. In the bottom half they would reach on throwing error and end Blomerth's (0 ER 5 In) night. They would later score that run, but that's all Mattina would allow. In the 7th behind great fielding Mattina picked up the save with a 1,2,3 7th.

Spinners await their Rd. 2 opponent tonight.

Tigers 0 2 0 0 0 0 0 2 4 1

Spinners come from behind in the 7th for what seems like the 100th time this season and pick up the win over a tough Tigers team. Both teams had great pitching throughout the game. Vernon cruised through 6 innings, striking out 12 and giving up no runs. Blomerth would give up 2R in the 2nd, walking 1 and giving up hits to both Stevens and West(2RBI) but would settle down after.

Top 7 the Caceras bros would both reach base bringing up Big Mark Killeron(3RBI, 2H, 1HR). Down in the count big Mark connects with a fastball driving it to the right center gap for an inside-the-park HR putting the Spinners ahead 3-2. That would be all the Spinners 1st rd draft pick, Mattina(5 wins, 0 loss, 4 saves), would need to shut the door and pick up his 4th save of the season. Blomerth improves to 5-3.

Both teams had little to no benches but managed to have an exciting game with lots of pitches, hits, hit batters, and lead changes.

The lead would change numerous times throughout the game as both teams played aggressive baseball. With Cambridge up 9-8 in the top 7, the cutters reached base on 2 errors and Pollard would make those hurt, as he singled to left scoring 2 and putting the cutters ahead.

In the bottom 7th the spinners loaded the bases with 1 out. After striking out the always dangerous O.Caceres, his big bro would pick him up. With a 1-0 count D.Caceres singled to center scoring the tying and winning run.

A's BEAT SPINNERS IN TIGHT GAME
GUISADO THROWS A GEM

Late-arriving fans missed the only runs of this early-morning contest. Alan Donaruma led off with a walk and scored on a Nick Tapper double off the left field wall. Taking a cue from the veteran, young Rathapoom Asdornvuttikrai laced his own double off the wall to plate Tapper.

That was all the offense the A's needed.

Angelo Guisado picked up his league-leading fifth win, carrying a no-no into the sixth inning. He struck out five Spinners and yielded just three hits.

Guisado out-dueled the Spinners' Dan Wilson, who pitched well in his own right. After the two-run first, Wilson kept the A's off the board, with the help of an outfield assist by center fielder Mike Knell.

The Spinners play the Padres next weekend. The A's take on the Cutters tomorrow night to wrap up their three-game weekend road trip.

Spinners scored 4 more in the same inning on a 2 run double by Megerdichian; Knell/ De Los Santos pitched in with an RBI a piece.

In the next inning Ferro hit a 2 run hr into the pool cutting the lead to 2. But those are the last base runners the spinners would allow the remainder of the game. Henkel entered the game in the 4th looking super calm and striking out 7 in 3 innings of work. Per usual the 7th belonged to Mattina who shut the door picking up his 3rd save of the season.

Web gems by Navarro and O'Leary helped keep the grays off base.

A bloop single would score the go ahead run for the Jays but then Mattina got a perfect 1-2-3 dp.

Down by a run, with runners on 2nd, 3rd, the vet M. Knell (3-3) muscled a 2 run double over the shallow playing IF to give his team the first lead of the game. That's all Mattina would need to shut the door in the 7th.

Spinners win a wild 9 inning game against a tough Brewers team.

This was a back and forth game from the start. The Brewers would go ahead but the Spinners would keep answering back. Skip to the 7th inning; up 1 run, the Spinners were down to their final out. With a runner on 2nd and 2 strikes Ciano hit a ball with eyes that took a nasty hop over the SS shoulder, scoring the tying run. In the bottom half of the 7th rookie S.Mattina entered the game hoping to give the Spinners one more chance. It didn't start off well for Mattina who let up a triple to the lead off batter. He settled down though, striking out the next 2 and getting a 5-3 ground ball.

Spinners answer back in the same inning after Mike Tufo (1-3) lined a double to left scoring a runner from first.
