Down to their last out three times, O's rally to force extra innings, overcome an 8th-inning deficit, and win in the 9th. Juan Williams (2B), Wilson Delos Santos (2-run HR) and Dan Cooney (based-loaded BB) each came up huge in the clutch.

KURTZ FANS 10 IN A's WIN
BUDDHA HAS HOMERUN AND 3 RBI
Jason Kurtz earned a shutout victory for the A's. He struck out 10 Orioles and yielded a mere six hits.
Kurtz's masterful performance was mirrored at the dish by battery-mate Rahtapoom Asdornvuttikrai. "Buddha" led off the second inning with a solo homerun to right and added a 2-RBI single in the third inning.
Will Wilde, who went 2-for-3, knocked in the remaining 2 runs for the A's. Tom McIntyre was also 2-for-3.
Jose De Los Santos had a 2-hit game for the O's, who will look to bounce back against the Blue Jays on Sunday.
The A's next square off with the Dodgers.

Steve Leahy tossed a complete game 4-hitter for the O's, striking out 8.
In a low scoring game, the O's jumped on the board early. In the 1st inning, Leahy scored the first run, taking home on a wild pitch. Othniel Vizcaino then drove in Juan Arias to stake the O's to a 2-0 lead.
In the 2nd, Jason Bressner drove in the Orioles' 3rd and ultimately decisive run on an RBI groundout.
For the Red Sox, Tom Lenane went the distance and had an RBI single. Seth Ferdinand went 2-2 with a walk, 2 SB and an RBI. |

The Dodgers visited the Orioles in Acton for a hot Sunday afternoon contest. The Dodgers struck early in this one, sending ten men to the plate in the second inning to open up a 6-0 lead. They would stretch it even further adding 8 more runs over the final five frames. The Orioles' offense had a tough go of it at the plate as they got only two men as far as second base through the first 6 innings.
These teams will square off again in mid July when the O's visit the Dodgers in Newton. |

Estarlyn Cordero led the O's to their first win of the season, spinning a CG 5-hitter.
In what was a tight game throughout, Darluigi Gonzalez made a web-gem catch by in the 5th that quelled a Tigers rally and allowed the O's to preserve a tenuous one-run lead. Jose De Los Santos then helped to give the O's a little cushion with a 6th-inning double for his 2nd RBI of the game.
Peter Allain and Dan Field had two hits apiece for the Tigers. |

For the Os, Juan Williams went yard with a solo blast to center.

A's TOP O's IN SEASON OPENER;
RATHAPOOM BRINGS THE BOOM.
Angelo Guisado picked up the win in his A's debut, striking out 7 while scattering just 3 hits. Kyle Breidenstine and Jason Kurtz followed in relief, each tossing a perfect inning.
Patrick Vetter got things started with an RBI single in the first. But Rathapoom "Buddha" Asdornvuttikrai was the star of the game on offense, belting a triple and two deep doubles. Jay Lamoureux added a 2-RBI double, and Nick Tapper went 2 for 3 with a double.
Carlos Solano was 2 for 3 for the Orioles, who hope to bounce back against the Cutters next Sunday. And the A's look to make it a streak against the Blue Jays on Friday night. |
