Cannon's defense steps up in Game 5 and the bats came alive in the fourth to give Hueston all the run support he would need. Big multi hit games by Kiley, Colon, and Clemente helped push runs across and get Cannon to game 6.
Hueston throws a CG gem with 7 k's. |

Cannon hopped on the first of 5 Carlson pitchers for 3 runs in the second with five hits and a sac fly. Picked up another run in the fourth after Flannery's (2-3, on base 4 times) lead off double.
Rojas then makes it interesting for about 8 minutes with a bases clearing double in the 5th to get Carlson within 1. Cannon doesn't give it a chance as they pounce for 6 runs right away. Big hits by Newton, Davis (2-2, 3 rbi, on base all 5 times), Greskoff and Sabatino push the game out of reach.

Another exciting action packed extra inning battle featuring plenty of offense and plenty of errors. The lead changes hands several times and Carlson pushes across a pair in the 8th to win the game and the series.
Malloy has a huge night for Grossman with four hits and three runs. Andruskvich has a bases clearing triple and Salvucci has a clutch 2 RBI double.
But Carlson counters with big offensive nights from Alvarez, Malaret and Gonzalez and the Carlson bats take advantage of a number of Grossman miscues. |

In a game of defensive extremes, both teams make exceptional plays as well as costly errors before Carlson scores the winning run with two outs in the bottom of the 9th on a throwing error. Both teams also get clutch hitting as the lead goes back and forth several times.
Thater for Grossman and Gomez for Carlson battle it out on the hill with Carlson scoring the only run going into the 6th inning. Rosario and Seip both throw well in relief.
Malloy, Ferbert and Salvucci have clutch hits for Grossman with Malloy's ball one of the longest hit at Fallon in a long time almost going out in centerfield.
Dume, Rojas and Malaret are on base all game for Carlson with the speed of Dume the difference in the game.
An exciting game for the players; an entertaining game for the fans... |
