Stronach vs. Sullivan. Stronach had Somerville quiet going into the 7th. Down 3-1 Addesa leads off with a BB, Annese reaches on error, Mendonca puts down a perfect sac bunt for a hit. Maguire hits a ball that appeared to be a walk off GS but stayed in and Somerville gets one run, Dziuba hits a ball to 3rd that Englhardt makes a great play on getting Dziuba at 1st but evening the score. Barrett hits a Sac Fly driving in Sal to win #13 Alibranidi style.
DesRoches earns the MVP for being clutch all postseason and our leader in every way!

Del Prete carries a no hitter into the 6th and completes his 3rd post season game for the win.
Offensively Maguire, Dziuba and DesRoches all had 2 hit nights. Crisafulli also chips in with a big 2 out RBI single in the first inning.
Defensively Mendonca made a great diving catch on Allison's ball in the 2nd and both Barrett at 2b and Addesa at SS made great plays all night as they also have all post season (13 Assists tonight between the two).
I am sure these guys will be mad at me for writing this but special thanks to Millbury, Stronach and real special thanks to Jeff Allison and John Moore for killing themselves to make mound at Maplewood as good as it ever has been tonight! |

The Malden Bulldogs tied up the Series 1-1. Evan Tardugno pitched a solid game allowing only 2 earned runs with 5 K's. The Bulldogs offense was lead by Tommy Englehardt,Anthony Perry and Brad Tardungo who combined to hit 9-13 with 11 RBI's.
Englehardt had 2-Triples and Perry had a HR and Double. Somerville Alibrandis had 3 hit games from Bobby Barrett and Marc DesRoches.

Offensively Dziuba, Crisafulli, Addesa, and Annese all had multi hit games. The start of the 4 run inning was Annese getting up with the bases loaded after Crisafulli, Addesa, and Tomaro all singled, and he hit a fouth single in a row into left plating 2.
Tomaro stepped in for DesRoches last night and was unbelievable at 3rd. Was involved in 7 dfferent plays. Addesa also played great defense for Somerville as he has all post season at SS.

Del Prete throws a complete game 3 hitter. Game time 1 hour 27 minutes.
Dziuba hit a solo homerun in the first and Mendonca hit an RBI single in the 2nd for what would be all Somerville would need.
Addesa played great defense at SS all series and Annese did a great job with the pitchers behind the plate.
Hats off to the Coluccis and the Stoneham Sabres in just their second season making the semi finals. Great group of guys and words could not say enough! |

Sullivan goes 5 strong to pick up the win. Wisner gets the first two outs in the 6th then Tanguy comes in with runners on 2nd and 3rd after a Stoneham rally and Maguire makes a highlight dive on a ball in the gap to rob Susko of a possible homerun. Tanguy then throws the 7th to pick up a 4 out save.
Offensively DeMartinis goes 4-4 with a huge double to get Somerville going. DesRoches had 2 hits and 2 RBI, and both Barrett and Mendonca had two RBI on two big hits. |

Addesa played great defense at SS making some big plays. Maguire threw out Zelnick at the plate with a great play by Annese to make the tag to stop a bases loaded rally.

Chris Dion pitches a 1 hit shutout and the Sabers defeat the Alibrandis 1-0 to take a 1-0 series lead
Dion picked up the win pitching 8 shutout innings, only letting up 1 hit and struck out 4 Somerville batters.
Sabers had chances to score all night leaving 9 runners on base. Finally in extra innings with 1 out Stoneham would load the bases. Jon Susko and Ryan Flanagan would hit back to back singles, Angelo Colucci would get HBP. When Jake Zelnick would draw a big RBI walk to give the games only run of the night.
Joe Parlow continued to play great defense at second.
Jon Morse threw 7 shutout innings for Somerville.

Offensively Metsch kept Somerville quiet all night. Somerville scores on a walk by DesRoches, single by Crisafulli with DesRoches going 1st to third, and a pop up in foul ground by Annese that Stephenson caught and slipped throwing from his knees to the catcher where a tagging DesRoches just beat the throw.
Defensively Addesa made some great plays at SS.

Stoneham Sabers 6, Somerville Alibrandis 1
Gaetano Fodera, Sam Cummings, and Rob MacDonald combine for 7 solid innings and the Sabers defeat the Alibrandis 6-1.
Fodera got his first career YBL start and let up only 1 hit while striking out 1 batter, through 3 solid innings of work.
Cummings relieved Fodera in the fourth and picked up his 2nd win of the season, only allowing 2 hits through 3.
MacDonald closed the game 1-2-3 in the seventh.
Ryan Flanagan led the Stoneham offense going 4-4 with 2 RBIS. Travis Adams had a 2 RBI double in the 7th and Jake Zelnick added a RBI single of his own.
The Sabers have a 6 game winning streak and have won 13 of their last 15 games going into the post season that will kick off Thursday night against the East Boston Knights.

Morse vs. Rooney! Both pitchers at their best tonight. Morse did not allow a base runner until the 5th and Rooney giving up only one run on 4 hits.
Somerville actually scored the run in the 6th on no hits! Addesa led the inning off with a 7 pitch walk, Barrett bunted him over, DesRoches intentionally put on. Both Addesa and DesRoches reach 2nd and 3rd on pass ball and Addesa scores only run on a Scioli sac fly.
Black sox threaten in seventh with a leadoff double but after trying to tag on the next batter the runner was called out for leaving early.
Great game played on both sides and as Grif said playoff baseball game. Black Sox a class organization from the top down.
Somerville plays at home tomorrow night vs. Forest Hills @8pm.

Braves come from behind, scoring 6 in the 6th to beat Somerville. The YBL strikeout leaders faced off against each other at Rogers Park - Martins vs. Foundas. The Braves looked to get on the board early, having 2nd and 3rd with no outs in the 1st but Foundas managed to work out of the jam with no damage. The Braves would manage to plate 3 in the 2nd with singles from Hudson and Cashman (3 RBI). Somerville would fight back with 1 run in the 4th on a Tomaro single and 3 in the 5th on a Scioli 3-run double. The Braves broke it open in the 6th on 2 walks, 2 hit batsmen, 2 1-run singles by Kerbin and Caminiti and a Schools Sac Fly.
Scioli led the Alibrandis offense going 3-4, 2 2B and 3 RBI. Maguire (RBI) and Adessa (R) had 2 hits each. Web gem of the night goes to Maguire for making a diving grab in center robbing Schools of a hit in the 6th.
With the Minutemen idle, the Braves regain first place in the Pesky Division for now. |

Anthony Del Prete goes all 7 for his Alibrandi debut. All four guys who pitched (Del Prete, Shepherd, Stronach, and Allison) for both sides were professionals at some point in their careers.
Mike Maguire provided the key offensive numbers for Somerville with 2 hits, 2 RBI and 2 Runs. Sal Mendonca with a big Sac bunt that put the runners in scoring position. Tommy Englehardt hit a long triple in the 7th driving in Brad Tardugno who had 3 hits on the night to make it a close game in the 7th. Typical Malden/Somerville game!

A great pitchers duel at Chelsea High. Foundas and Del Rio both battled for 9in, each coming up huge for their team escaping several jams to keep the score knotted at 0 thru 9.
Rookie Bradley Applin would relieve Del Rio in the 10th. W/ 1 out Maguire worked a walk and proceeded to steal 2nd and 3rd. Applin would buckle down and strike out Addesa and Dzuiba to end the inning.
Marc DesRoches came in the 10th for Somerville. Bucciarelli would lead off with a single followed by Moran who struck out. 2 pass balls later and Bucciarelli on 3rd, Rodriguez is intentionally walked to set the stage for Nate Laliberte who lined a single to center for the walk off win.

East Boston Knights 8, Somerville Alibrandis 5
The Knights welcomed the Somerville Alibrandis to East Boston Stadium on Monday night. The Knights sent Sean Hannon to the mound to face off against Chris Foundas in what looked to be a pitching dual.
The Alibrandis struck first against the Knights plating 2 runs in the 3rd. The Knights would answer back in the bottom of the frame doubling up on Somerville in a bizarre inning. An error and 3 consecutive infield hits led to the four runs for the Knights.That score held up till the bottom of the 6th when the Knights scored another 4 runs to up the lead to 8 to 2.
As always the Alibrandis are never out of any game they play gave a scare to the hometown team by scoring 3 runs in the 7th and sending the tying run to the plate with 2 outs. Jared Kenny came on to finish the game getting Mike Maguire to ground out to shortstop to end the threat.
Kenny Polanco led the way for the Knights offensively going 3 for 3 with 2 RBI. |

Guilmette picks up his 3rd win in as many starts. Cosmopolous pitches the 6th and DesRoches picks up the save in the 7th. Addesa was big for Somerville scoring 3 runs with a couple heads up plays on the bases. Dziuba, DesRoches, Conner, and Scioli all with clutch hits. Conner leading the way with a multi hit and multi RBI game.
For the McKay club Kyle McKay had two hits and the leadoff hitter Matt Samela also had two hits and reaching safely in all four of his plate appearances.
Somerville is on the road on Monday against East Boston.

On Friday night the East Boston Knights traveled to Trum Field in Somerville to take on the Somerville Alibrandis. Somerville got out to an early 1 - 0 lead in the first inning on a Bobby Barrett single off Knights starter Branden Eaton that scored Mike Maguire . Eaton kept the Knights right in the game and the Knights responded with 5 runs in the 4th. Kenny Polanco started the fireworks with a triple that scored Matt Rodriguez to tie the game. The inning was capped off with an Ace DiNapoli 2 out single that gave the Knights a 5 - 1 lead. That's all the runs Branden Eaton would need. Eaton pitched a complete game keeping the Alibrandis off balance the entire evening. With the win the Knights move to 4 - 2 and stay in first place in the Yaz division. |

Saints were able to get the victory in a hard fought game at Trum Field last night. Jim "the hammer" Farrell and Chris Foundas battled each other in a pitchers duel. Farrell throwing 6 innings of 1 run ball and Foundas throwing 7 innings of 1 run ball.
Paul Larocque had the clutch go ahead hit for the Saints in the 8th innning. Somerville had 1st and 2nd with no outs in the bottom of the 8th but Luke Geoghegan was able to pitch out of the jam and pick up his 1st win of the year.

Somerville came out of the gates with 4 in the first on two big hits by Dziuba and Babb. 2 in the second on home runs by Maguire and Dziuba. And then "stole" insurance runs in the 5th and 6th with Scioli and Mendonca.
Guilmette was great on the mound in his first start as an Alibrandi. He went 5 strong, striking out 6 and only allowing 4 hits. Cosmopulos and Wisner looked great in relief pitching the 6th and 7th respectively.
As good of a game played by Somerville (against a really good Malden team) arguably in franchise history. |

Tambling led both teams with 2 hits.
Conner made the defensive play of the game throwing out Owens trying to steal in the 6th.

Somerville was lead offensively by Dziuba (3-3 3 runs), DesRoches (3-4 2 runs) and the guys that knocked them in Barrett (3-3 3RBI) and Babb (2-3 2RBI).
Other big hits in the game were by Mendonca with a two out RBI and the new 2 hitter (and player that has taken over at 2B from the guy that is writing this) Addesa hit his first home run as an Alibrandi.
