The Middlesex Brewers advanced to the MSBL Finals with a 7-6 victory in 10 innings over the Newton Red Sox. With the game knotted up 6-6 through 6 innings, relief pitchers (Bret Urban for the Brewers and Junior Rentas for the Sox) were steller through regulation, sending the game into extra frames. In the bottom of the 10th inning, Robert Moschella got on his horse and doubled. Then Steve Ponte laid down his second sacrifice of the night, but the play was bobbled putting runners on the corners with nobody out. Then Rusty Young delivered the game winning walkoff hit and was mobbed by his teammates beyond first base. Angelo Amico pitched a gutsy 5+ innings for the no-decision. With Urban next, Owen Carlson pitched the final 2 stellar scoreless frames for the Brewers, while Junior Rentas took the tough loss. Great series!
