The Spinners got the offense going early and never looked back - cruising for the most part to their first playoff win of 2012.

The story of the game was the Spinners defense, which was great all night, highlighted by web gems from J. Tufo, O Caceres, O'leary, and Bonard to keep the pesky Padres off the board. Dan Blomerth pitched well going 5 2/3 and picked up the win. Knell would close things out, managing a big strike out with 2 outs and bases loaded in the 6th inning. The offense was paced by Bonard (2-3 3R, 1RBI), Knell (2-4 1R, 2RBI) and McDonald (1-2 2R), and also got a big bases loaded 2RBI single from M Tufo.

Game 2 of the series is Wednesday night at 730pm at St. Peters field.

That's all Robby Vasquez would need, pitching a complete game shutout with 10 Ks while only allowing 2 hits.

Spinners rattle off their 3rd straight win by defeating the As on Monday night. Bo Gillette pitched a complete game gem, with the vaunted Spinners D finally making an appearance after a few games off. The defensive effort was led by a ragtag group of veteran outfielders (M. Tufo, J. Tufo, and RG11), who each came up big to keep the game close.

In the top of the first Omar Caceres drove in 2RBIs, continuing his All-Star play and increasing his yearly total to 21. Mike Mori scored on a botched 1st base pick off attempt in the 3rd that wound up being the winning run. With the Spinners up 3-1 in the bottom of the 7th, Nick Tapper led off the inning with a Chelsea-special HR to pull within one, but Bo and the Spinners held firm. Spinners improve to 6-1 in interleague play this year.

Following a Wednesday win against the Bay State division leader Grays, the Spinners take down the best in the Atlantic with a 5-4 win on Sunday afternoon.

Down 4-2 in the top of the 7th, the Jays tied the game up with a Blanchard triple and Vennochi RBI single. The Spinners fought back, and walked off with the win as a hard hit ball from Shayne McDonald scoots past the second baseman allowing Knell to score the winning run.

Dan Blomerth pitches well but gets the ND, as crafty old veteran Mike Knell sneaks in to take the Win after .2IP. Shayne McDonald is clutch all day, coming up with a 2 out - 2RBI single early in the game.

Grays 0 0 0 5 0 0 0 5 6 1

Spinners go to 2-0 against division rival Grays with a 10-5 win on Wednesday night. The Grays scored their only 5 runs in the bottom of the 4th after the Spinners defense collapsed with 4 errors in one inning. Down, but not out, the Spinners answered back with 5 of their own to regain the lead, capped off by a J.Tufo pinch hit 2RBI single with 2 outs and the bases loaded. J.Tufo continued his clutch play in the 7th, charging in from right field to make a diving catch to end the inning.

Scary moment for the Spinners in the 6th: Trying to protect a 1 run lead, all-star catcher D.Caceres makes a huge play at the plate for the out, but also gets an unintentional finger to the eyeball. Asked how it felt by a sideline reporter after the game, Danny replied, "It felt like I had a pound of sand in my eye."

Great combine pitching effort by McHugh, Gillette & Blomerth.

The Spinners take on 2 out of division teams this weekend.

Brewers bats explode for 12 hits against a tough Spinners squad for a 6-4 win.

For the Brewers it was a combination of Mike Gentile (6.1 IP 7H 4K) and Mike Humphrey (.2 IP 2K) that got it done on the mound. Zach Dubin went 3-3 with a double and 2 RBI's while Eddie Fernandez and Kevin Salines set the tone at the top of the lineup. Steve Van Reenan went 2-3 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI's.

Mike Knell for the Spinners was a hard out to get all day while going 3-4 with a double.

The Brewers face the A's tomorrow night while the Spinners play the Grays next Saturday afternoon.

After being shutout by the Padres the day before, the Spinners get back on track with a division win against the Tigers. The game was called after 6 innings due to the time limit, partly a result of the Spinners scoring 10 runs.
The offense got started early, plating 4 runs - the first two on a Bonard inside the park home run (3B+error). The Spinners got all they needed in the first, but the team would continue to add runs, getting RBI contributions from 7 different players. The 1-4 hitters combined to go 7 for 12, 4BB, 7R.
The "Young Guns" of the pitching staff combined to get the win. Teen sensation Rob McHugh went 4 innings and got his second win of the season. Danny B needs only 4 pitches to bail McHugh out of a no-out bases loaded jam - inducing RBI machine Scott Stevens (+ 2RBI on the day) to ground out and getting the next batter to hit into an inning ending double play.

The Spinners pulled off a late game win Sunday morning, after being behind all game. The WS started off strong with a lead off triple by Gardner, who would score the first run of the game. The WS would score 3 more runs in the 2nd. In the 3rd inning the Spinners cut the lead in half on a Shayne McDonald 2 run single, only to have the WS answer back with a run in the bottom of the inning. After loading the bases with no outs in the 5th the Spinners were only able to plate one run to cut the lead back to 2. Rob McHugh would enter the game in the bottom half of the inning to quiet the WS aggressive bats. With the bases loaded in the bottom of the 7th and 1 out, Mike Tufo was able to put the ball in play and score 3 runs on a botched double play attempt. That didn't get the WS down as they would also load the bases in the 7th with 1 out but McHugh was able to pitch out of the jam with a SO and fly out, to pick up his first win as a Spinner.

The Spinners and Brewers met up for the 2nd time this season but the end resultwould be different than the 1st. The Spinners would strike quickly scoring 2 runs in 1st off a Danny Caceras (1 for 2, 1BB, 2RBIs) single and then score 2 more in the 2nd off some great base running by Mike Mori and a Knell single. The always reliable Dan Blomerth (4-1) would take the mound for the Spinners allowing only 2 runs, 1 off a Joe Blotner bomb double to left center and a Salines single but that would be the only runs the Brew Crew would put up.In the 7th Mike Tufo (2 for 3, 1BB, 1RBI) would drive in 1 more run for the Spinners. That would be plenty for Bo Gillette who pitched 3 scoreless innings helping give the Spinners the win.

In one of the quickest games of the year, Spinners win the first of the two game series against out-of-division rival Jays.

The Spinners scored 1 run in each of the first three innings including one off a Greg Megerdichian HR, but the Jays would tie it up in the bottom of the third plating two runs after loading the bases with no outs. After Omar Caceres' 2nd RBI of the day in the 5th, the Jays would threaten again in the bottom of the seventh, but would be shut down on a game ending double-play that had fans reminiscing about the final play in the 2010 MABL World Series, only this time the Spinners came out on top. K. Brennan entered into the game in the 4th, going 4 strong innings to pick up his first win of the season.

Spinners 1 0 0 1 1 0 2 5 7 2

Spinners win in dramatic fashion with a walk off hit in the bottom of the seventh.

With just 8 players the Grays played a great game, keeping it close the whole way. In the top of the seventh the Grays took the lead on an RBI single by Mike Guinello (4-4 1R, 2RBI, 3SB) needing only to retire the Spinners in the bottom half for the win.

Bonard started the Spinners rally with a lead off walk (his third of the game) and a stolen base. Elder statesman, Mike Knell (2-3 2R, 1RBI), tied the game with a single making his way to second on the throw home. The Grays then intentionally walked O.Caceres, and got M. Tufo out on a fly to left, bringing up Greg Megerdichian. On a 2-0 count, Greg smoked a ball to center for the game winning RBI and getting the Spinners back in the win column.
