Tim Fortune and Kit Kadlec combined to hold the Rockies at bay as the Mets completed a stunning series victory.

The Mets ran the bases aggressively and took advantage of a few Rockies miscues. A hit-and-run in the 2nd turned a would-be DP into an error and an eventual run, and a double-steal in the 3rd created an errant throw that allowed a run to score. Al Becker drove in a run in the 4th, but Mike Close nailed a second runner at the plate on the play. The Rockies tied things in the 4th on a long double by Kevin Spitz, a single by Neal Roper and a double by Chris Clark.

In the 6th, Seth Grossman drove in the go-ahead run on a bases-loaded grounder. In the 7th, Chris Sansone smacked a double to deep center to drive in Will Garnett, who had singled and stolen 2nd.

In the bottom of the 7th, a 2-out Rockies rally fell short. 3 straight batters reached with 2 strikes before Mike Close grounded out to end the game.

Fortune and Kadlec came through for the Mets; Clark cracked a double and a triple for the Rocks.
