N Andover Thunder 40s 4, Quincy Grays 2
Incredible performance by Don Lindsey, entering the game in the 3rd inning with the bases loaded and 2 outs, strikes out the Gray's Titus (who had a monster double in the 1st) to kill the rally. Don goes on to strike out 10 in 4 1/3 innings. Thunder "d" helped with good running catches by Mike Quinn and Dave Brown on the right side of the infield.
Thunder took the lead in the home half of the 3rd on a leadoff bunt single by Rick Armand, who stole second and scored on Frank Marr's RBI single. Frank stole 2nd and Tim Bradley knocked him in.
Dave Grady singled to start the 5th and scored the insurance run.
Great series between the Grays and Thunder. Richie pitched well for the Grays, striking out 5.

Frank Marr of the Thunder hurls a gem, after a shaky start, scattering 3 hits to pace the Thunder to victory. The top 6 Thunder batters (Armand, Onello, Marr, Bradley, Brown and Inangelo) had consecutive hits to break open the game in the 3rd inning. Several defensive gems turned: John Inangelo at 3B, Mike Quinn with a 4-4-3 double play at 2B, and Don Lindsey and Jimmy Wick combined to stop a smash in the final inning.
The Gray's Titus ran down several Thunder drives in CF. |

This was a competitive game with lead changes. The Grays jumped out to a 5 - 1 lead after one inning, pitched well and played solid defense. The Sox held the Grays to 2 hits and no runs over 6 innings with Steve Capozzi's crafty pitching performance though. The Sox offense provided the needed run support staging a comeback win on Steve Bessette's 3 RBI double, Billy Carlezon's game tying RBI and Mark Moise's go ahead/winning RBI. |
