Middlesex Brewers 8, JM Force of Hyde Park 5
The Middlesex Brewers swept JM Force, 2 games to 0, to advance to the MSBL Finals for the first time in franchise history.
In the deciding game, Aram Manoukian pitched the complete game victory.
The Brewers jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but Force took a 3-2 lead when they scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning with the help of sacrifice flies from Carl Rodriguez and Jose Raul Serrano. But the Brewers answered back with 4 runs of their own in the top of the 5th inning highlighted by a clutch 2-RBI single on the first pitch after a pitching change. A bobbled RBI comebacker smacked by Joe Creedon that same inning proved to be the game winner. Also contributing strongly to the final score were the two Force batters nailed at home plate during the game - both with great sweeping tags from catcher Steve Ponte.
The Brewers head to the finals on Sunday to face the winner of the Newton Red Sox vs. Milton Breakers series. |

Middlesex Brewers 12, JM Force of Hyde Park 2
Brewers starter Owen Carlson allowed a lead-off single to Josue Feliciano that was followed up with a 1-4-3 doubled play. From there, he was lights out for the first 4 innings. Going into the 5th frame, Carlson had faced just the minimum of 12 batters. JM Force did push across a run in the 5th on a Jason Forrester RBI single, as well as a bomb over the monster by Feliciano in the 6th inning, but that was all the offense Carlson would allow in his 8 innings of work. Cary Atsalis pitched a clean 9th inning.
Offensively, the Brewers continued to hit the ball hard. Robert Moschella went 4-4 with 6 RBI while Rusty Young went 3-4 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI to lead the attack. Brett Rudy, Steve Ponte, Franz Strassmann and Josh Weinstock also had multi-hit games.
The Brewers take a 1-0 lead in the Best of 3 series, with Game 2 slated for Tuesday evening. |

Force take a 3-0 lead into the 7th and get the game taken from them by a dispicable call from the home plate umpire. Credit the Braves for taking advantage and coming back and winning the game in walk-off fashion. |
