Reds 0 0 1 0 0 0 x 1 3 1

The Reds and Tigers lock up in a pitcher's duel at Chelsea HS.

David Callaghan and Eric Harvey were pretty much the only story in this one, with both pitchers going the distance and neither allowing an earned run.

The difference in the game was the bottom of the 3rd when a leadoff walk to Nadolny and a defensive miscue allowed the Reds to have runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs. Nowlin drove in the eventual game winner with a single to left. The Reds threatened to bust things wide open in the inning but with one run already on the board and the bases loaded, Harvey recorded three huge strike outs to keep his team close.

One run was all the Reds would need as Callaghan dominated throughout, not allowing a base-runner to get past 2nd and only allowing 1 hit.

Tigers 0 1 0 0 0 2 0 1 4 6 1

Old rivals renewed acquaintances Sunday afternoon as the Harvey vs. Wlodacrzyk matchup lived up to its hype and ended as a classic. Pitching was the story early on as E. Harvey (6.1 in,ER,3 H,8 K's) cruised through the potent White Sox lineup. Wlodarczyk (6 in,2 ER,4 H,5 K's) was equally impressive, allowing an early run in the second before finding a groove. The Tigers would get to R.W. in the 6th adding 2 runs capped with a run scoring on a Gib SB and another on a Byrnie FC. These runs proved huge for the Tigers, as 3 BB and some Tiger miscues allowed the Sox to rally and tie the game in the 7th, eventually pushing the game into extra frames. In extras, Mike Vern struck out the side in the top half then started things in the bottom half by singling to left. Vern moved to 3rd on a Gib single down the right field line and a Coop IBB set the stage for Byrnie's GW SAC fly to deep center allowing the Tigers to walk off with a 4-3 win

Tigers sweep season series with the Red Sox with a come from behind win at a muggy Chelsea H.S.. The Tigers would score first on a Harvey 2B(2-4, 2 R), Coop single, and Stevens (2-4, 2 RBI) RBI single to right. In the 2ed, the Sox took advantage of 3 Tiger errors leading to a 4-1 Sox lead. However, Houlding would settle "the pack" after that, allowing the Tiger bats to awaken for 4 runs in the 4th, highlighted by a Dan Field 2 run 2B, that was robbed of a HR by the tree in left. Houlding was brillant for the Tigers, sweating out bullets through 6, scattering 4 hits, 4 BB, and 4 K's, before "closer" J. Vern (yes Josh Vern) worked the 7th for the save.

DelVecchio and Hammond both had multiple hits on the day for the Sox.

The Tigers took advantage of an error, Byrnie single (3-4, SB) and Stevens SAC fly to plate a run in the top half of the 1st and wouldn't look back as Houlding (CG,0 R,6 H,0 BB,8 K) took control of the game.

Eric Harvey helps put Tigers back in win column going 6 strong in win over Sox. The Sox would take the early 1-0 lead before the Tigers answered back with 4 runs in the bottom half of the inning on a BB, FC, Harvey RBI single and Gib-Vern double steal. A Coop SAC fly the next inning would be more than enough cushion for E. Harv (6 in., 0 ER, 4 H, 2 BB, 4 K) who pitched very effectively. The Tigers would add some insurance runs in the 6th, lead by RBI singles from Gib (3 RBI's, 2 SB) and Byrnie (2-3, 2 RBI's, R). The Sox threaten in the 7th, however it wouldn't be enough to overcome.

For the Sox, Sam DelVecchio chipped in with 2 hits and Jon Letourneau pitched well going the distance. Byrnie, Stevens, and Field each had mutiple hits for the Tigers in the win. The series concludes tomorrow morning in lovely Dorchester.

The Reds pull off the last inning comeback to prevent a season series sweep at the hands of the Tigers.

The game was an excellent pitching duel between Brian Houlding and David Callaghan. The two pitchers combined for zeroes until the Tigers took the lead in the 6th thanks to two errors by Nowlin and a key single by Scott Stevens.

In the bottom of the 7th, the bottom of the Reds order found a way to get on with 2 HBP's for Altmann and Pope followed by an rbi single for Ciano to cut the lead to one. Garabedian took a walk to set the stage for Nowlin redeeming himself with a 2-rbi walk off double.

Good luck to the Tigers the rest of the way.

The Tigers jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first on a walk, single, and COOOOP (2-3, R, 2 RBI's) RBI single. They would tack 3 more in the 3rd on another Coop RBI single. The lead allowed Harvey (CG W, 5 R, 8 H, 3 K's) and some solid Tiger's D to "drag on" before the Reds made things interesting in the 7th.

The Reds would load the bases on 2 singles and walk before Reds manager, Brett Nowlin picked up his team with a line drive grand slam to right. Some Tiger miscues lead to another Reds run, and aiding to load the bases, before Harvey helped the Tigers to "escape" with a strike out to end the game.

Nadolay pitched valiently in the lost and also helped pitch in offensively going (2-4, 2 SB). The Reds and Tiger matchup resumes next weekend in Hyde Park.

Harvey (CG, R, 5 H's, 10 K's) pitching on only 3 days rest took control of the game early and didn't look back. Stevens and Coop each had 2 hits helping to lead the Tiger offense. The Tigers jumped out to a 1-0 in the 2ed on a Coop double (2-3, 2 R's) and a Dan Field (2-3, 2 R's, 2 SB) single. The Tigers would plate 2 more in the 4th, capped by a D. Field single. This would be more than enough for Eric Harvey (CG, 2 BB, 1 K's) who was dominant througout the game scattering only 6 hits. Dumont pitched well for the Mariner's allowing their offense to stage a last inning rally, but it wouldn't be enough.

Tigers stay undefeated behind the arms of Griffiths and Harvey, and the bats of Giblin and Byrne.

The Tigers took the early lead in the 1st on a Field BB, a Gib 2B, and a Byrne groundout. Griff battled through the first 3 innings keeping his hitless innings streak as a starter going until the 4th when Ruggieri reached first on an infield single. A walk and a double by Knell put the Reds ahead, but Griff showed some resolve as he got out of a bases loaded jam with a 6-3 DP.

In the 5th, Ricupero got things going with a 1b, an RBI groundout by Silk tied it, and Gib's second stand-up double put the Tigers ahead for good. Byrne knocked in his 2nd run of the day for insurance, however Harvey finished his 3 innings for the win allowing no hits on 5 K's.

Callahan pitched well for the Reds, and both sides played solid baseball, but the Tigers were able to exact some early season revenge on the defending Champion Reds.

Gib goes 2-3, 2 2B, RBI & Byrnie w/ 2 RBI's

Long night ends well, as Houlding allows Tigers to "dodge bullets" at Clifford.

On a sloppy field, "Bri Guy" Houlding (5 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 5 K's) in his return to the starting rotation, pitched well helping the Tigers pick up their 3rd win of the young season. The offense scored early and often for the Tiggers led by leadoff Dimer Field (1-4, 3 R, RBI, SB), Scotty Stevens (2-3, 2 R's, 5 RBI's) and T. "my man" Walsh (3-4, 3 RBI's). The Sox, led by Cooper (2-3, R, 3 RBI's) fought vallantly tacking on 4 runs in the 4th and 3 more in the 7th, but it wouldn't be enough to overcome, as Tigers win 11-8...

Tigers win their second game of the season behind a strong 13 K pitching performance from Eric Harvey. Mike Byrne led the offense (2B, 3 RBI's) to help improved the Tigers to 2-0.

The Tigers jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first, led by a Byrnie RBI double and a T. "HEEEY NORM" Walsh (1-3, 2 RBI's, 5 Assists) bases loaded walk. The Spinners would cut the lead to 3-2 in the 4th, on RBI singles from Megerdichian and Tufo. However, the Tigers would answer back with a nice manufactured run in the 5th and 3 more runs in the 6th pushing the game out of reach. Eric Harvey was impressive on the mound, picking up the CG win (2 R, 6 H's, BB, 13 K's), as well as his battery mate 'Dimer' Field (1-3, 2 BB, 3 R's, SB). Nick Bonard also played well for the Spinners (2-3, R, SB).

Pitching under the lights in his first career Opening Day start, Chad Griffiths spins a no hitter against the Cambridge Spinners improving the Tigers Franchise to 4-0 on Opening Day. Griff was simply brillant striking out 12, including the sides in the 3rd and 4th, while scattering only 4 BB. He didn't allow a baserunner past second until the 6th, when he "clawed" out of a bases loaded jam. The Tigers first struck in the 3rd, with a walk, single, and a Stevens sac fly. They would tack on a few additional runs in the 4th and 5th, led by new Tigers, Mike Byrne (2-3, BB, R, 2 SB) and Eric Harvey (1-3, 2B, RBI). For the Spinners, Glynn was equally impressive, holding the Tigers to a run through 3, before giving way to the pen. However, a run and some crafty footwork at first for the final out would be all Griff would need capping off a magical night. Congratulations Griff!

Best of luck this year Spinners.

Griff Spins No-No ( 0 R, O H, 12 K's, 4 BB )
