Lexington wins 2008 Intercity League Championship with a 5-0 victory over Cassell. The Blue Sox win the finals 3-1.
Bill Cooke pitched a 2-hitter, walked none and struck out 11. He set down 13 straight Cassell batters from the second through sixth innings, including five consecutive strikeouts.
Blue Sox scored all the runs they would need in the second. Jared McGuire reached on a fielder's choice, stole second and scored on Anthony Santos' RBI-double. Santos scored on a wild pitch. Santos drove in the fifth run with a sacrifice fly in the seventh. Dan Hughes had an RBI double in the fourth. Eric Poling had a pinch-hit RBI single in the seventh.
Jim Roche had both hits for Cassell, a single in the second and two-out triple in the seventh.

Lexington takes a 2-1 lead in the ICL finals with a 4-0 win over Cassell.
Marc Hewett won his second game of the playoffs and tossed a complete game 3-hit shutout. He retired 12 of the last 14 batters he faced, including striking out the last two Cassell batters.
Dan Hughes broke open a 2-0 game with a 2-run single in the fifth. Ben Hewett singled to drive in Anthony Santos with the Blue Sox first run.
Bobby McCarthy had two of Cassell's three hits, including a leadoff triple in the first inning. Outstanding defensive plays by Matt Gedman and Ben Hewett helped keep McCarthy on third.
Game four is Saturday at Trum Field at 4:00 p.m.

Lexington evened the ICL Finals at a game a piece with a 5-4 win at Trum Field.
Anthony Santos broke open a 1-1 game with a 2-run single in the sixth to give Lexington a 3-1 lead.
Matt Gedman drove in two insurance runs in the seventh with a 2-run single to give Lexington an important 5-1 lead.
Cassell took advantage of two Blue Sox errors in the seventh to score three run to make it 5-4. Pat Donovan came in and closed the door, striking out two to save the win for Lexington.
Game Three is Friday night in Lexington at 7:45.

Bobby McCarthy's two-out, two-run double, in the top of the 8th inning, drove in the winning runs as Cassell won game one of the Intercity League finals, 4-2, in extra innings at Lexington High School.
McCarthy (3 hits) singled and scored Cassell's first run in the third. Josh Mackey walked and scored the second run on wild pitch.
Dan Graham homered in the first for Lexington. Jack Laurendeau walked, went to third on Sean McElroy's single and scored on Jared McGuire's sacrifice fly to tie the game in the fourth.
Tim Dunphy pitched a complete game allowing four hits, walked two and struck out four.

Dan Hughes scored the winning run with two outs in the ninth as Lexington won the first game of the semifinal series.
Hughes walked, moved to second on a passed ball, went to third on an infield out and scored on Jack Laurendeau's single just past the first base bag.
Both starters went the distance. Marc Hewett earned the win allowing 5 hits, an unearned run, walked two and struck 7.
Dylan Ellis took the loss, in a game neither starter deserved to lose, gave up 6 hits, walked one, struck out four and 2 runs.

Kevin Johnson doubled in Jason Roth with one out in the bottom of the seventh to give Wakefield a 1-0 win.
Roth, who singled with one out, came all the way around from first with the only run of the game.
Kevin Tidmarsh improved to 4-3 and scattered 8 hits. He handed Lexington its first shutout of the season.
Marc Hewett, 8-1, suffered his first loss of the season. He gave up five hits, walked two and struck out four.

In a home game for Watertown at Lexington, the Blue Sox used a big first inning to defeat the Reds 13-6.
Jeff Nolet's 3-run home run, his first, was the big hit of inning. He had 2 hits and 4 RBI on the night. Anthony Santos had 2 hits and 3 RBI.
Pat Donovan (2-0) pitched four innings in relief for the win. He struck out 5 and allowed 2 runs.

Bill Cooke (W) pitched a complete game 3-hitter, collecting 9 K's along the way. The runs for the Blue Sox came on an RBI single by Dan Graham and on a throwing error by Cassell shortstop Josh Mackey, that scored Sean McElroy. Bobby McCarthy had two of the three hits for the Cassell Club and Anthony Santos went 2-for-2, as they were the only players with multiple hits in the game.

Kevin Scanlon pitched 5.2 innings of no-hit ball and Lexington beat Testa for the third time in four days.
Scanlon (1-0) gave up a single up the middle by Steve Walsh for the Bombers only hit of the game. The southpaw allowed four baserunners in the game, two walks, an error and the hit. He struck out 10 and retired 12 straight from the first through fifth.
Dan Graham doubled to drive in the only run the Sox would need. Graham scored on Matt Gedman's RBI single.

Testa Corp started the scoring off in the top of the 1st. Nick Martinho stroked a double to right field and came around to score on a ground ball by Jon Pollard to second base that Ryan Duff threw over the first basemen's head. After the 1st inning, the Bombers failed to get another hit as Marc Hewett (7IP, 2H, 0ER, 6K) pitched a masterful game.
The Blue Sox scored their only two runs of the game in the bottom of the sixth on a triple by Dan Hughes and an infield single by Jack Laurendeau.
