Tigers 10, Rangers 7
The Tigers end up winning a see-saw affair as they mixed it up with the Rangers in Roxbury. The Rangers jumped on top in the 1st, but the Tigers came right back with 2 of their own in the bottom half.
Things got dicey in the 2nd as the Rangers scored 4 on a couple hits and a nice sac from Dutton, but again the Tigers fought back with a matching 4 spot on 2 walks, a nice sac from Gib, and an infield 1B by JP.
The Rangers took the lead again in the 5th, only to see the Tigers come back again and take the lead for good in the bottom half on 3 straight singles capped off by a perfect hit-and-run by Morgan, and a great piece of hitting from KB (GW RBI).
Houlding managed to go an inning in his first start of the season, while R-Wlod picked up his 7th win of the season. Steffens pitched well for the Rangers, but took the tough loss. |

Mariners 8, Rangers 4
The rubber match between the Mariners and Rangers proved to be a doozy. With the 2 prior games between the teams played very tightly, it was with little surprise that the M's found themselves within 1 run heading into the final frame. The M's Jamie Aldoupolis tied the score with a sacrifice fly to right that was dropped by the right fielder. Two batters later, the bases were loaded thanks to a single and an error. Michael Parker came to the plate with 1 out and hit a walk-off grand slam to left.
The M's offense came alive late to lead the team to victory. Parker had 2 hits and 5 RBI, while Jamie Aldoupolis (3 RBI) and Chris Corde each hit doubles. Wade Briggs pitched well, surrendering 3 hits and picking up the complete game victory.
For the Rangers, Chris daCamara had a 2-RBI triple, and Andy Katz chipped in with an RBI single. |

Senators 4, Rangers 2
The Senators played flawless defense in 200 degree heat and knock off the first place Rangers. Starter Matt Mothander faltered in the first but settled down and held the Rangers to 3 hits over 7 innings. Reliever Jonathan Rheault was solid in the final 2 frames while picking up his first win.
Offensively, the Senators would need last inning heroics to win as Rangers pitchers were greedy through 8.
In the top of the 9th, Jerry Adler lead off with a walk followed by a hard single by Jon Rheault. Jason Ackerson would load the bases with a bunt single and Matt Orszulak would tie it up with a walk. Nate Laliberte sealed the deal with a single to left plating 2.
The Senators would like to thank the Rangers for making the trek to CT and for a fun weekend overall. |
