Padres vs Palmer is like Yankees vs Red Sox
This was an outstanding playoff game. The Padres were down to their last strike in the 7th inning before rallying to send it into extra innings with a Brandon Cody single to left and stolen base, and a Chris Plant carefully place single that drop in just over the outstretched glove of the 1st baseman to tie the game. In the top 8th Mike Ross send a missle to right that landed by the house for a triple then Manuel Soto hit a drive to right for a sac fly an rbi. Palmer fought back in the bottom and tied the game on a Greg Stack single. It stayed tied until the top of the 11th when Cashbee Calderon walked and stole 2nd and scored the eventual game winner on a Andrew Terista single up the middle. Darwin Mesa and Peter Lucido pitched outstanding baseball into the 8th innings. Both relievers Jose Beltre and Paul Lauderback also pitched just as well.
