Leigh Zancewicz tripled and scored in the 2nd then doubled down the leftfield line in the bottom of the 8th to tie the game at 3. Making his first appearance in a month, Scott Hampe (2-2) held a potent Stockyard lineup to six hits in going the route with seven strikeouts, thirteen groundball outs and no flyball outs. Tim Reinhardt doubled home two runs in the 4th following a Michael Stefaniak bunt to load the bases, and Hampe, assisted by his teammates' errorless ball in wet conditions, made it stand up. Devin Barry and Coley Lyons knocked in the Stockyard runs. Justin Flanagan stranded 10 Towne runners, but took the tough complete game loss.

Resuming action on July 20, after prevailing on a protest, Towne struck for a walk-off victory as Tim Reinhardt (double) and Don Ferbert (hit batsman) led off the bottom of the 7th and both raced home on an almost identical error as on the play that had sparked the protest nine days earlier. Dan Merzel had three hits and three stolen bases (of six by Towne). Jim Klocek picked up the win with 4 2/3 innings of one-hit relief, taking over when play resumed, and perfectly executed a key sacrifice bunt in the winning rally.
